Asia BB caught between Silly Mullahs and Secular Fascists

This poor lady is unfortunate in the sense that her case has been caught in the fight between two classes of ignorant bigots. On one side we have ignorant silly Mullahs while on the other side are secular fascists. Mullahs are clearly aloof to the true understanding of the teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). In this particular case, for example, the lady admitted that she made a mistake while she was in an emotional state after she was abused by a few Muslims ladies. But she has apologized to every one for her mistake.

We can imagine what the Prophet (PBUH) would do had he been alive during this time. Remember, our Prophet (PBUH) was very kind and forgiving. He (PBUH) never had a personal grudge against any one – not even against the people who abused and tortured him for long or even tried to kill him (PBUH). His mission was not to punish people but rather his every effort was aimed at only one thing, and that was to save every human being from the hell-fire. I am sure that he (peace be upon him) would have given a pardon to this lady too. There are many narrations about the incidents when persons came and tried to abuse the Prophet (PBUH) in front of every one present. In some cases, the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) advanced to punish the offender but the Prophet (PBUH) stopped them from doing any harm. Many people got impressed by the kindness of our Prophet (PBUH) and became Muslim. That is the true spirit of Islam.

The members of other mafia, the liberal fascists, are trying to use this case to abolish the blasphemy law in Pakistan. These silly liberals think the problem is the law itself and that is far from the logic and reality. Any valid law is aimed at dealing a certain situation in which one party is aggrieved. The law is meant to provide justice by penalizing/punishing the offending party. If no law exists to discipline the society then the crime breeds itself and anarchy spreads. If the blasphemy law, for example, did not exist or is annulled now, people would start revenging against real or perceived offenders of committing blasphemy. That situation is not acceptable at all to any law abiding society. It is much better to prosecute any accused in the court of law and brought to justice (that may include acquittal too). The most important thing to do is to ensure that the blasphemy law is not abused. The persons responsible for the false charges must be punished severely. If only a few Mullahs who are making a fuss out of this very serious legal issue could be prosecuted and punished adequately, that will be very reassure to the respected members of our minorities that the justice is for every one. Imran Khan, December 2007

Blasphemy Laws: Letter to Maseehi Brothers and Sisters

Imran Khan, December 2007

Imran Khan has taken a principled stand on stopping the abuse of the Blasphemy Laws

It is unconscionable that we hurtle from one crisis to the next one on our minorities. Maybe should move beyond press releases and hold a summit with the Christian leaders and come up with long term solutions. The article address some core issues.

OPEN LETTER TO MASEEHI BROTHERS AND SISTERS:

Dear Maseehi Brothers and Sisters:

The recent death sentence of a Pakistani Christian woman, Asia Bibi, has once again brought to light the misuse and abuse of the ambiguous Blasphemy Laws. Asia Bibi has been accused for blasphemy against Islam under section 295B of the Pakistani Penal Code, by Additional Sessions Court in District Sheikhupura. This law encourages certain elements which institutionalize intolerance in the name of religion and spread social persecution and legal discrimination.  As it stands, this law with its ambiguity harms Pakistan and its’ citizens.

Such news emanating from Pakistan hinders its stature in rest of the world, which in turn negatively impacts its economic stability and trade practices. The Blasphemy Laws have not only been used to target minorities in Pakistan; Muslims of different religious schools of thought have also been targeted by these controversial laws. A study by the National Commission for Justice and Peace reports that a total of 964 people had been charged under the Blasphemy Laws in Pakistan from 1986 to 2009. Out of these, 479 were Muslims, 340 Ahmedis, 119 Christians, 14 Hindus, and 10 of other religions. It should be noted that as of yet none of those who have been charged under the Laws have been executed.

Last July, Lahore High Court Chief Justice Khawaja Sharif while overturning a blasphemy case said ‘the treatment meted out to the woman was an insult to humanity and the government, and that civil organizations should be vigilant enough to help such people’.

We are asking Pakistan’s legislators to amend and remove ambiguity and legal discrimination from Section 295 and 298 of the Pakistan Penal Code which covers the blasphemy provisions.  We ask Pakistani politicians not to settle scores or seek political gains in the present crisis, but do what is right for the country and its citizens and to uphold the teachings of Islam and Pakistan’s Constitution, thus treating all citizens as equals.

The Christian woman did not oppose or defend herself in the court and did not present any defense witnesses. the Court ruled against her. Under pressure from Human Right groups in Pakistan, President Zardari is about ready to pardon the Christian woman.

We (Muslims and Christian) need to join forces to work on the long term solution to this issue so that persecution of Christians ends, and end now. We have to work together on short-term and long term issues. All indications are the Asia issue will be resolved amicably. However, how do we work together to prevent another Asia?

1) Hint as a brother: The opposition should be for “ABUSE of blasphemy laws”–or we will not succeed.

According to Shariah Laws–the person who places wrong and false accusations must face the same verdict. For example if it is proven that the charges are false–then the person who put the false charges will face the death penalty. This is not enforced, and would be colossal deterrent to false charges.

The problem in Pakistan is abuse of laws and corruption. The abominable persecution of minorities must end.

2) I was astonished that one Maseehi brother was opposing the separate electorate for Christians. They have gone to the Supreme Court to end Separate Electorate Laws. This wrong tactic will not help the Christians. According to present laws any Christian can run on any seat anywhere and get elected in open elections—and Christians have to be represented in parliament per their numerical numbers. Thus each Christian has two votes–one for adult franchise, and the 2nd one for separate electorate. We must convince our Christian Leadership not to tinker with this or we will have fewer Christian brothers and Sisters in parliament. Separate electorate is good for Christians and this privilege should not be given up. The Muslim League before 1947 struggled and got Separate electorate–the Dalits gave up that right and suffered.

3) The Christians leadership must get together with the leadership of JUI, JI, JUP, Sipah e Sahabah and Fiqah e Jaffriah and explainthe difficulties of the Christian brothers and sisters. If you want, we can assist you in putting together an agenda which is replete with Quran, Hadith, and the system of the government during the time of Hazrat Umar and Hazrat Ali.

We must convince the religious leadership of the ways and means of fixing things that are wrong.

4) The foreign NGOs, Asma Jahangir and others cannot change the laws, it the people of Pakistan that can. Disparaging Islam or Shariah will not change the laws. Full enforcement of the laws of Pakistan and preventing abuse will fix things. However Secularism is not the answer and it will not be accepted by the people of Pakistan.

5) We (Christians and Muslims) must work together to educate the people of Pakistan. We heard stories that the dispute started over Asia sister touching water utensils and then escalated from there. We have to educate the illiterate people in the villages about the dignity of human beings. While Watch Tower and the hundreds of missionary schools in Pakistan do a good job in teaching the students–they have failed to educate Pakistanis about the equality of human beings and dignity of human beings. Unless and until we do that, we will fail in our mission.

Hopefully this trauma will be over soon.

Here is the Covenant from Prophet Muhammad to the Christians.

In 628 C.E. Prophet Muhammad (s) granted a Charter of Privileges to the monks of St. Catherine Monastery in Mt. Sinai. It consisted of several clauses covering all aspects of human rights including such topics as the protection of Christians, freedom of worship and movement, freedom to appoint their own judges and to own and maintain their property, exemption from military service, and the right to protection in war

An English translation of that document is presented below.

This is a message from Muhammad ibn Abdullah, as a covenant to those who adopt Christianity, near and far, we are with them.
Verily I, the servants, the helpers, and my followers defend them, because Christians are my citizens; and by Allah! I hold out against anything that displeases them.

No compulsion is to be on them.

Neither are their judges to be removed from their jobs nor their monks from their monasteries.

No one is to destroy a house of their religion, to damage it, or to carry anything from it to the Muslims‘ houses.

Should anyone take any of these, he would spoil God’s covenant and disobey His Prophet. Verily, they are my allies and have my secure charter against all that they hate.

No one is to force them to travel or to oblige them to fight.

The Muslims are to fight for them.

If a female Christian is married to a Muslim, it is not to take place without her approval. She is not to be prevented from visiting her church to pray.

Their churches are to be respected. They are neither to be prevented from repairing them nor the sacredness of their covenants.

No one of the nation (Muslims) is to disobey the covenant till the Last Day (end of the world).

This charter of privileges has been honored and faithfully applied by Muslims throughout the centuries in all lands they ruled.

Here is a press statement from the PTI.

PRESS RELEASE ISLAMABAD

Mr. Imran Khan, Chairman, PTI has condemned the attempt of the PPP government to make

political capital out of the unfortunate case of Aasia Bibi.

Mr. Khan termed blasphemy law (Section 295-C of PPC), which has been misused over the years

to unfairly target minorities, against the spirit of Islam and Constitution of Pakistan. He said

that teachings of Islam are very clear on standards of justice being equal for Muslims and non-

Muslims. It is about time that religious scholars, minority leaders and political parties should

sit together and amend this law with consensus and save the poor victims from the agony and

suffering caused to them due to the misuse of the law.

Mr. Khan expressed his trust in Pakistan’s judiciary and said that the case should go through the

appeal process in the Lahore High Court.

Our Sister Asia Bibi must be protected

Medieval Christian views on Muhammad

… and we Pakistanis need to stand by her. I endorse capital punishment for those who bash Islam and its sacred symbols. And no one bashes Islam in Pakistan. Certainly not our Pakistani Christian brothers and sisters whose forefathers played a great role in Pakistan Independence Movement.

We own and defend our great religion and our great Prophet. But harassing a poor Pakistani Christian woman in the name of blasphemy is not justice. The great, fair-minded leaders of Islam, like Omar and Ali, would never endorse this. Shame on these half-educated mullahs who can’t offer a word of support to a weak and poor woman being wrongly accused of blasphemy.

Would anyone dare utter a word against our great religion in our country, let alone a poor and weak woman who earns a living as a domestic helper?

We need Omar R.A.’s and Ali R.A.’s justice in this case. And we Pakistani Muslims must force half-educated clergy in groups such as Sunni Tehreek [I have more respect for Jamaat Islami and Tanzeem Islami] to stop making uneducated comments in this case. We are no good if we can’t protect the weak and the wrongly accused among us. Unfortunately, because of the inflammatory statements by the uneducated, a minority of westernized and secular-minded NGOs, funded by foreign money, are seizing this opportunity to bash Pakistan and Islam. PPPP Senator Sherry Rehman wants to abolish the blasphemy law. That’s fine. But she never uttered a word against the injustice done to Dr. Aafia Siddiqui? No comparison between her case and that of Asia’s. The point is that the few westernized and secularist Pakistanis will try to seize this case to bash Pakistan and our great religion. Asia needs our help against a stupid law and a fake case. But the champions of her case must be Muslim scholars first and foremost, and if not then all the rest of Pakistanis who know how great and tolerant and open-minded Islam is even if these half-educated mullahs know nothing about it.

Blasphemy law was originally enacted against a sect, Qadiyanis, who claimed Mohammad, peace be upon him, is not the last Prophet. Ordinary good-hearted Pakistanis are misled by the mullahs into believing this law is somehow a hedge against Islam-bashers in the West, such as the people behind the infamous Danish cartoons. That’s not true. Our laws can’t be implemented on those outside Pakistan. And no one inside Pakistan can dare insult Islam. Case closed.

We will never be secular. We are modern, and we are Muslim and Islam has always been a big-hearted religion. This is our opportunity to prove otherwise to others in the world who heard the ignorant statements of a few mullahs in this case. These mullahs need to be told to shut up. We defend our religion. And we do this by not tolerating a word against our religion and by defending the innocent and the wrongly accused.

P.S. I tell the few mullahs who exploit this case: Honor Pakistani Christians. Remember that they sided with Pakistan when even some Muslim leaders were sitting in the laps of the Brits and Indians. Also remember that one of the wives of our Prophet, the Umm al-Momineen, Maria, was Christian. She became Muslim after marrying our Prophet. Her name was Christian but out of respect for her, our Prophet didn’t let her change her name and insisted she keep her original Christian name. Also remember when the Great Omar R.A. conquered Jerusalem, Al-Quds, he refused to pray in a church because he was afraid Muslims might seize it later and convert it into a mosque. Thanks to him, that church stands today side by side with a mosque that was built on a ground near the church where Omar prayed in the open. Asia is our sister. If Omar R.A. was here today, he would have given her justice no matter what some half-educated mullahs of ‘sunni tehreek’ or whatever this group is named might have said.. Asia Bibi Is Our Sister

Pakistan doing the right thing: Amending 'Blasphemy Law' to prevent abuse

Pakistani Protesters–most of them Muslim, are holding protests demanding the release of Asia Bibi, a Pakistani Christian woman who has been sentenced to death for blasphemy, at a rally in Lahore November 21, 2010.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will amend the Blasphemy Laws to prevent abuse because scrapping the legislation could fuel militancy, a government minister said on Tuesday.

The law, which carries the death penalty for insulting Islam or its Prophet Mohammad, has come under the spotlight this month after a court sentenced a Christian mother of four, Asia Bibi, to death in a case stemming from a village dispute.

Widespread media attention on the case has led to renewed appeals by human rights groups for the repeal of the law but Minister for Minorities Shahbaz Bhatti said that would not happen.

“(Repeal) is not being considered though we are considering changing it so that misuse of the law should be stopped,” Bhatti told Reuters.

The law enjoys widespread support in Pakistan, which is more than 95 per cent Muslim, and politicians are loathe to be seen as soft on the defense of the religion.

Blasphemy convictions are common although the death sentence has never been carried out. Most convictions are thrown out on appeal.

Bhatti said consultations with Islamic clerics and representatives of religious minorities on amending the law would soon be held.

He said repealing it was not being considered because that could provoke religious parties and militants who want to oppose the pro-US civilian government.

“We have to analyse what the reaction of those having intolerant attitudes will be,” Bibi said. “At this point our aim is to stop its misuse.”

Critics say the law can be misused by people making false accusations against rivals.

Liberal and secular groups say the law discriminates against religious minorities who make up roughly 4 per cent of Pakistan’s 170 million population. Most members of minorities are Christian.

Bhatti said an initial inquiry into the case of the Christian mother suggested she had not committed blasphemy but was falsely accused after a quarrel.

Bibi, the first woman sentenced to death for blasphemy, has appealed to President Asif Ali Zardari to pardon her.

“It will take few more days. We are looking into different things, not just pardon. She could get relief from the courts,” Bhatti said.

Authorities were providing Bibi with security in jail and her family had also moved for safety reasons, he said.

New York-based Human Right Watch has said the blasphemy law and government’s failure to address religious persecution by extremist groups effectively enable atrocities against minorities. –

Asia BB should be pardoned for any and all “crimes” immediately.

We don’t believe any of the charges. Where there is smoke, there is fire–but we disagree with the abuse of the law.

The law has to be fundamentally changed and not used for prosecuting Christians and Hindus for no reason at all. Shariah Law protect the rights of the minorities. This law abuses them. This is not Shariah Law-this is Zia Ul Haq‘s bastardization of Pakistani laws and it is Anti-Islam.

We must cherish our minorities–and almost all Christians I know are patriotic Pakistani citizens–who love Pakistan. We have to protect them and raise our voice in their favor. Jamil’s letter was painful for me to read.

Jamil should always circulate Prophet Muhammad’s Covenant to the Christians which was not made under duress–it was made when he ruled all of Arabia. This covenant is emblazoned in the rocks of Mt. Sinai

Gandhi with Maulana Azad and Acharya Kripalani...

Was Abul Kalam Azad an Ahmedi?

Gandhi with Maulana Azad and Acharya Kripalani...
Gandhi with Maulana Azad and Acharya Kripalani 1942 Wikipedia

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was once drawn by a correspondent of the daily Zamindar [16 June, 1936] of Lahore into the controversy as to the nature of the claims of the Founder of the Ahmadiyyah Movement and the rights of the Ahmadiyya communities to claim a position within Islam. Both these matters were set at rest by the Maulana in the very first passage of his first letter to the said correspondent thus:

“You enquire which one of the two Ahmadi groups follows the true path, the Qadian group or the Lahore one. In my opinion neither is on the true and right path, but the Qadian section has gone too far in its ghuluww, so far that the very fundamentals of Islam have been shaken; for instance, its belief that for faith and salvation the known and admitted doctrines of Islam are not now sufficient and that it is essential to believe in the Mirza Sahib of Qadian. But the Lahore group denies this ghuluww; it neither confesses a faith in the prophethood of the Mirza Sahib nor does it add any new condition to the conditions of faith; where it has stumbled is in the misplaced belief which it has created for the Mirza Sahib.”

In this passage Maulana Abul Kalam has made clear the three points: 1. The position which the Mirza Sahib claimed for himself, 2. Whether the Qadian group is outside or within the pale of Islam, and 3. The position of the Lahore group.

Let us consider first the position of the Mirza Sahib in the light of what the Maulana has said. In ascribing ghuluww to the Qadianis, the Maulana has in fact made it clear that the Mirza Sahib never claimed prophethood for himself, for a ghali is one who ascribes a position to its leader higher than that which he claims for himself. For example, the Christians are guilty of ghuluww when they ascribe to Jesus Christ a claim to Godhead because he never claimed Godhead for himself. Hence the Qadianis can be said to be guilty of ghuluww only if they ascribe to Mirza Sahib a claim which he never made for himself.

The above conclusion drawn from Maulana Abul Kalam’s letter is further corroborated by two of his earlier writings on the subject. The first of these is a passage which occurs in the Maulana’s well-known book the Tadhkirah published in 1919. Writing about Sayyid Muhammad of Jaunpur who claimed to be the Mahdi, the Maulana says:
”The affair of the Sayyid of whom we are speaking is full of wonder, and various sorts of claims and absurd sayings have been attributed to him. What the followers of a person say need not be paid attention to, for whomever a people take for their religious leader they would raise him to no less a dignity than that of God-bead, and if they are very careful they would not keep him below the position of a prophet. But some recent writers have written things which at first sight cause perturbance. Shah Abdul Haq, the Muhaddath of Delhi, writes:
‘According to Sayyid Muhammad of Jaunpur, every perfection possessed by the Holy Prophet Muhammad was also possessed by Sayyid Muhammad, the only difference being that there it was in asalat (possessed originally) and here it was by tab’iyyat (attained by following), and by following the Holy Prophet he attained to such a place that he became like a prophet.’

“Reading these words of Shah Sahib, it occurred to me that in our own days a big section of the followers of the Mirza Sahib of Qadian entertains an exactly similar belief about the Mirza Sahib and lays the foundation of all its ghuluww (exceeding the bounds) and ighraq (exaggeration) on this difference of asalat (possessing originally) and tabe’ijyat (attaining by following)” (pp. 30, 31).

Here the Maulana states that the followers of Sayyid Muhammad and a great section of the followers of the Mirza Sahib have fallen into the same error and have been guilty of exaggerating the claims of their respective leaders. Evidently he is referring here to the Qadianis and considers them to be guilty of ghuluww, i.e., exaggerating the claims of the Mirza Sahib and attributing to him what he never claimed. Thus attributing the claim of prophethood to Mirza Sahib is ghuluww on the part of the Qadianis; in other words, the Mirza Sahib did not claim to
prophethood.

As regards the second writing of the Maulana which exonerates the Mirza Sahib of laying claim to prophethood, it is really a fatwa given by him when extracts dealing with the alleged claim to prophethood taken from his different writings were placed before the Maulana. These extracts were sent to him by me personally, and he returned those papers with the following words: “He is a mu’awwil (one who explains a word as conveying a significance quite different from its ordinary significance) and a mu’awwil is by unanimous decision not a kafir.” [I am writing this from memory and the originals in my papers at Lahore. But there is not the least doubt in my mind as to the words quoted being in their essence those of the Maulana.]

This shows that after reading all the writings of the Mirza Sahib on the question of his alleged claim to prophethood, Maulana Abul Kalam came to the conclusion that he never laid claim to prophethood and explained his use of the word prophet as conveying a different significance from the usually received one.

Thus Maulana’s letters to the correspondent of the Zamindar settle at least one question, viz. that the Mirza Sahib was not a claimant to prophethood and that he was a Muslim and not a kafir.

We will now take the second question whether the Maulana looks upon the Qadianis as Muslims or kafirs. The Maulana considers them to be guilty of ghuluww (exaggeration and exceeding the proper limits), but at the same time he considers them to be Muslims — Muslims who have strayed away from the right path. That is all that one Muslim can say about another. Their error is very great, and it shakes the very foundations of Islam, says the Maulana, but he has not been carried away by the senseless agitation to expel this or that group from the pale of Islam. It is the Holy Prophet’s verdict that they are Muslims — yes erring Muslims — but Muslims all the same. For, does not the Holy Prophet say: “Whoever says prayers as we do, and faces our Qibla and eats our dhabiha, that one is surely a Muslim and for him is the covenant of Allah and the covenant of the Apostle of Allah, so do not violate the covenant of Allah” (Bukhari, 8: 28).

And on a certain occasion when a man abused the Holy Prophet in his face, and the Holy Prophet would not suffer any harm be done to him because, he said, “perhaps he said prayers,” Khalid remarked: “How many people there are who say prayers, yet there is on their lips what is not in their hearts.” But the Holy Prophet rebuked him, saying: “I am not commanded to pierce the hearts of the people or to break open their secret thoughts” (Bukhari, 65: 63).

The Maulana is thus a noble exception to the ‘ulama of the present day who care neither for the Holy Qur’an which says: “And say not to any one who offers you the (Islamic) salutation: Thou art not a believer” (4: 94); nor yet for the Holy Prophet who clearly commanded that the covenant of God shall not be broken by calling a man kafir who said prayers as the Muslims do. The Qadianis are undoubtedly shaking the very foundations of Islam by attributing prophethood to the Mujaddid of this century and by denouncing four hundred million Muslims as kafirs because they do not believe in the prophethood of the Mirza Sahib, but with all those grievous errors they are Muslims, just as the Shias are Muslims though they abuse the companions of the Holy Prophet and denounce them as usurpers and just as so many other extremist sects are Muslims though they raise their leaders to the dignity of Godhead or the dignity of prophethood.

I now come to the third question: the Lahore section of the followers of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, or the Ahmadis as they are now generally called as distinguished from the Qadianis. Maulana Abul Kalam has, here too, set at rest one question, viz., that the Ahmadis do not believe in the prophethood of the Mirza Sahib, nor do they add any condition to the accepted conditions of the faith of Islam. This clearing of the position of the Ahmadis in Islam is also an important contribution to sane criticism in the Muslim camp, for sanity is a gift which is so rare among the ulama, even among the general Muslim public, when they have to deal with Ahmadis, Once, Mufti Kifayatullah, the head of the Jami’at-ul-Ulama of Delhi, committed the mad act of denouncing the Lahore Ahmadis as kafirs because, he said, “they believed in the prophethood of Mirza Sahib,” and this in spite of the fact that we have been carrying on an incessant war against the Qadianis regarding their belief in the prophethood of the Mirza Sahib and their denunciation of the forty crores [400,000,000]of Muslims as kafirs.

While I am sincerely thankful to Maulana Abul Kalam for definitely and clearly upholding the truth in these three matters, that the Mirza Sahib never claimed to be a prophet, that the Qadianis in spite of their grievous errors are Muslims, and that the Ahmadis deny the prophethood of the Mirza Sahib and accept him only as a Mujaddid, adding nothing to the accepted doctrines of the faith of Islam, I must say that the Maulana has not done justice to us. He has every right to say that we are not on the true path, for to differ with others is the Muslim’s birthright; the Maulana has a right to differ with us and we have a right to differ with the Maulana. But when he says that we have ”stumbled” in a “misplaced belief which we have created for the Mirza Sahib,” he is unjust to us. We have created no belief for the Mirza Sahib except only what the Qur’an and the Hadith say. For what is our belief regarding Mirza Sahib? We accept him as a Mujaddid and we accept him as fulfilling the prophecies relating to the advent of the Messiah among the Muslims. And the coming of Mujaddids and the advent of a Messiah are both based on Hadith.

As regards the first point, the Maulana was undoubtedly misunderstood as denying the coming of Mujaddids when his two letters to the correspondent of the Zamindar appeared in the press. But the writer of Tadhkirah who describes the Mujaddid is the centre of all hope in the triumph of Islam could not deny the coming of Mujaddids. His words were surely strong, but he has tried to explain them away in a later statement, and whether we accept or reject his explanation, we have no tight to ascribe to him denial of the coming of Mujaddids now that be has reaffirmed his faith in their advent in very clear words. His real views on this point are met with in his famous writing, the Tadhkirah:
“These perfect ones are given the name of muhaddath in the hadith of Bukhari, and in them, too, is fulfilled the hadith relating to the appearance of Mujaddid, which has been narrated through various channels, and about its genuineness, therefore no doubt can be entertained” (p. 94).

“And these are the clear and manifest characteristics of the place of tajdid (the position of the Mujaddid), the vicegerency of prophethood, about which I have again and again said that the highest of heads must bow there” (p. 140).

Now when it is accepted that Mujaddids must come, and the Hadith says that the commencement of every century of Hijrah shall see the appearance of a Mujaddid, I fail to see how our belief about the Mirza Sahib being a Mujaddid of the fourteenth century is “misplaced” when there is no one to claim that office, nor has any one else been unanimously accepted as the Mujaddid. In accepting Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad as the Mujaddid of the fourteenth century we have bowed only before the Hadith of the Holy Prophet. One of the two positions must be accepted; cither the hadith relating to the appearance of the Mujaddid is not genuine, which view is however strongly rejected by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, or Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is the Mujaddid of the 14th century, for there is neither another claimant nor has the Muslim world unanimously declared another man to be the Mujaddid of this century.

Now there remains only one point. Have we created any new belief in accepting the Founder of the Ahmadiyyah Movement as the Messiah that was to come among the Muslims? Happily Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, whose letters in the Zamindar raised apprehensions in some minds that he was denying the hadith referring to the advent of Messiah, has cleared his position in a later statement, and we are glad that he accepts the hadith, I am further certain that, like us, the Maulana also believes in the death of Jesus Christ. Now the position is this: The Messiah must come as the Hadith says, but Jesus Christ cannot be that Messiah because he died long ago. There is then no escaping the conclusion that the Messiah that is to come among the Muslims must be a Mujaddid of this ummah. We accept Mirza Ghulam Ahmad to be that Mujaddid. We have created no new belief. Here again we bow our head before the Hadith of the Holy Prophet. What are our arguments for accepting him as such is a different question which cannot be discussed here. The Maulana has a right to say that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is not the Mujaddid and the Messiah, and that we have made a mistake in fixing our choice, just as we have the right to say that the Maulana is making a mistake in rejecting him, but two conclusions are inevitable: There must be a Mujaddid of this century, and only a Mujaddid can be the Promised Messiah

Maurice Bucaille becomes believer in Quran after Pharoah discovery

Pharaoh, the king of ancient Egypt, is often d...

Was  Abraham a myth? Is  Ishmael, and Hagar and Zam Zam and Kaaba and the Final Messenger also a myth?.

The Exodus is proven to be correct. Moses passed the sea of Aqaba to Arabia to Mount Jabl Al Lawz (Mt. Sinai) where he received the Torah. Pharaoh Body was found in this sea.

Maurice Bucaille was born to a French parent and, like his family, he grew up a Christian. When he ended his secondary education, he joined Faculty of Medicine, France University. He excelled at medicine until he obtained a BSc degree and worked hard until he rose to fame, becoming the most renowned and cleverest surgeon ever in modern France, but a story happened to change his life completely.

His story with the Pharaoh Mummy:-

France is known for its unique interest in archeology and heritage. When French Socialist President François Mitterrand assumed power in 1981, France asked Egypt, late in the eighties, for the mummy of Egypt’s pharaoh so that it would conduct a string of monumental and processing experiments. Actually the body of Egypt’s most notorious tyrant was transferred to France, and, strangely, the French president and his ministers as well as senior officials in the country lined up near the plane carrying the pharaoh’s body and bowed down to him as if he were still alive! After the ceremonies of the royal –like reception to Egypt’s pharaoh were over, the tyrant’s mummy was carried nearly in the same red carpet reception way he received. Then the mummy was transferred to a special wing at the French Monuments Center, and renowned archeologists, surgeons and anatomists started to conduct a study on this mummy in an attempt to delve into its mysteries.

The senior surgeon and the scientist in charge of the study on this mummy of the pharaoh was Professor Maurice Bucaille. While the professors were busy making restoration to the mummy, their head (Maurice Bucaille) was thinking otherwise. He was trying to discover how this pharaoh died when, late at night, he concluded his final analysis. The remains of the salt stuck in his body was a shining evidence that he had drowned and that his body was retrieved from the sea swiftly after he drowned; it was also obvious that they rushed to mummify his body so that his body would remain intact!! But he (i.e. Maurice Bucaille) puzzled over a question: How did this body- to the exclusion of other mummified bodies of other ancient Egyptians- remain that intact although it was recovered from the sea?” He asked himself.

Maurice Bucaille was busy conducting a final report while thinking as to whether the pharaoh’s body was recovered from the sea and mummified immediately after he drowned. But one of his company whispered in his ear, saying” There is no need to rush about this issue, since the Muslims say that this pharaoh did drown”. At first, he vehemently rejected this say and did not believe it, citing that such a discovery would be reached only through sophisticated, modern and accurate computers. Another one accompanying him surprised him more when he told him that the Muslims’ Qu’ran in which they believe narrates the story that says he drowned and that his body remained intact even after he drowned. He got more surprised and kept on asking” Where did the Muslims’ Qu’ran quote these data from while the mummy was not discovered until 1898 AD, i.e. about 200 years only, given that the Qu’ran has been recited by Muslims for over 1400 years, and given also that until a few decades ago the entire mankind including Muslims did not know that the ancient Egyptians had mummified their pharaohs?!.

Maurice Bucaille stayed up all this night gazing at Pharaoh’s body, thinking deeply of what his fellow researcher told him about the Muslims’ Qu’ran explicitly establishing that this body was recovered after drowning, while the Christians’ Gospel (Matthew and Luka ) narrated only the story of pharaoh when he was chasing Messenger Moses( pbuh) without mentioning the fate of his body at all. “Is it believable that Mohamed ( pbuh) knew about this over one thousand years ago while I have only just known it ?!” he said to himself .

Maurice spent a sleepless night, and asked for a version of the Torah. He devoted part of his time to reading the Exodus in the Torah which read, “And the water turned to drown the military tools and horses of Pharaoh’s army, chasing all of them until it left nobody”. But this text only furthered Bucaille’s astonishment; since even Torah did not narrate that the body was recovered and remained intact due to the processing and restoration which it did undergo.

France sent back the mummy to Egypt in a splendid glass coffin. But , since he knew about the story circulated by Muslims on the intactness of this body, he decided to pack his baggage and travel to Saudi Arabia where a medical conference happened to be held with a galaxy of Muslim anatomists attending. There, told them about his discovery, i.e. that Pharaoh’s body was kept intact even after he drowned. One of the conferees opened the Quran and read out the verse in which Allah, SWT, said, ” So today We will (safely) deliver you with your body that you may be a sign to the ones succeeding you; and surely many among mankind are indeed heedless of Our signs.” (Yunus, ayah 92).

In his excitement, he stood before the attendants and loudly said, “I  believe in this Qu’ran”

This is the closest he comes to the shahadah–we can all make our own judgments.

Q: Have you embraced Islam?

A: I wanted to make it quite clear in the very beginning that even before I learnt the first letter of Bismillah, I was convinced that God was unique and all- powerful and when God guided me to undertake a study of the Quran, my inner soul cried out that Al- Quran was the Word of God revealed to his Last Prophet Mohammed (S.A.W.).

In my book “Quran, Bible and Science,” I have mentioned these facts and the book has met with instant success in the entire Christian world. In this book I have devoted myself to discuss all problems from purely academic angle, rather than that of faith or belief which would have revealed only my personal convictions. This was because I desired to be treated by the world as an academician rather than a theologian. About my faith and belief, God knows what is in one’s heart. I am convinced that if I identify myself with any creed, people will invariably dub me as one belonging to such and such group and feel that whatever I say or do, I do so from only the angle of such and such creed group. I know my fellow beings very well and understand their mentality only too well. I wanted to assure them that all my pronouncements are based on scientific knowledge and not on any religious dogmas.

Bucaille’s Achievements:

Back to France, Maurice Bucaille completely changed and spent ten years only busy conducting a study as to how far the recently scientific facts match that mentioned in the Holy Qu’ran, trying to reassure himself that the Qu’ran has never contradicted with any single scientific fact, so that he eventually came up with the conclusion that Allah, SWT, said of the Qu’ran, “Untruth does not come up to it before (Literally: between its two hands) it nor from behind it; a successive sending down from (One) Ever-Wise, Ever-Praiseworthy.

These years which French Maurice spent conducting this study did bear fruit, after which he came up with a earth shaking book on the Holy Qu’ran which jolted the entire Western states, with the title of the book reading ,” The Bible, The Qu’ran and Science,’

The Holy Scriptures Examined In The Light Of Modern Knowledge”
All of a sudden, the book sold out , and even hundreds of thousands of it were translated from French to Arabic, English, Indonesian, Persian, Turkish and German, extending to include nearly all East and West bookstores; one has come to see it with any Egyptian, Moroccan or Gulf person in the US.

Mad Reactions:

Some of the Jewish and Christian Clergy, out of malicious hatred, have come to counter the facts which the book established. However, what they wrote was nothing but a futile debate and desperate attempts through devilish suggestions. One of them, by name of Dr. William Campbell, authored a book titled, “Qu’ran and Holy Scripture, in the Light of History and Science” . In this book of his, he wandered and wandered but in the end he failed to achieve anything. More surprisingly, a Western scholar kept on reading the book authored by Bucaille in an attempt to counter it, and by the time he ended it, he had converted to Islam and openly uttered the two parts of the Shahadah!

In the preface of his book, Maurice Bucaille said,” These scientific areas which Qu’ran established to the exclusion of other Scriptures filled me with deep surprise early on, since it never struck my mind to see such a large amount of scientific issues in such a variable and accurate way that they are a mirror image of what has recently been discovered in a book which has existed for more than 13 centuries.!!

He also said,” First, I studied the Holy Qu’ran in a subjective and unbiased way, in an attempt to find by myself that the Qu’ran texts and the givens of the modern science match and do not conflict. Before this study, I earlier knew, through the translated versions of the Qu’ran, that the Qu’ran stated so many natural phenomena. Thanks to the in -depth study of the Arabic text , I managed to gather a list of scientific signs in the Qu’ran, after which I realized that the Qu’ran contains no refutable ayahs, nor did I see scientific ayahs in the Qu’ran which contradict with the recently discovered facts. In the same subjective and unbiased way of research, I scrutinized the Old Testament and Holy Scriptures. Concerning the Old Testament, I needed not go further after I read the Exodus and found no harmony between its texts and the decided scientific givens in our age. Concerning the Holy Scriptures, one can easily read a text in Matthew Gospel which is in stark contrast with that in Luca, and that the latter presents us with matters which does not absolutely go with the modern science as to Man’s life on earth”

Dr. Maurice Bucaille also said, “Anyone who reads the Qu’ran for the first time sees a book which abounds with accurate and easy –to- understand scientific subjects. While one fails to find any contradiction or errors in the Qu’ran, the current Torah abounds with fatal scientist errors. This prompts us to say that if the author of this Qu’ran was a human, then how did he write about facts which never belonged to his age!?”

His book The Bible, The Qu’ran and Science, The Holy Scriptures Examined In The Light Of Modern Knowledge was such a marvelous piece of writing that, in the year 1988, the French Academy awarded him its prize in history.

As the country grapples with its worst economic downturn in decades and persistent unemployment, voters in Oklahoma next week will take up another issue — whether they should pass a constitutional amendment outlawing Islamic law, or Shariah.

Supporters of the initiative acknowledge that they do not know of a single case of Shariah being used in Oklahoma, which has only 15,000 Muslims.

“Oklahoma does not have that problem yet,” said Republican state Rep. Rex Duncan, the author of the ballot measure, who says supporters in more than a dozen states are ready to place similar initiatives before voters in 2012. “But why wait until it’s in the courts?”

Some conservative activists contend that the U.S. is at risk of falling under Shariah law. They point to Europe, with its larger Muslim population and various accommodations to the Islamic religious law.

In England, Muslims can enter special Shariah courts to decide divorce and custody cases if both parties agree. Criminal and other civil cases are still heard in secular courts.

In the U.S., those who warn of the dangers of Shariah can point to only a handful of cases that merely allude to the centuries-old, complex tangle of Muslim religious law. And in none of the cases cited has any U.S. court held that Shariah law is the law of the land here.

Islamic groups say the Oklahoma initiative, which was placed on the ballot by the Legislature, is nothing more than an effort to stigmatize their religion in order to whip up votes. “There’s no threat of Shariah law coming to Oklahoma and America, period,” said Saad Mohammed of the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City. “It’s just a scare tactic.”

Until recently there was little campaigning over the measure, known as State Question 755. The only public poll conducted on the matter found it had the support of 49 per cent of voters, with 24 per cent opposed and 27 per cent undecided. That was in July.

Last week a group called Act! for America, which says it exists to fight radical Islam, began airing radio ads and making automated calls to Oklahoma voters, urging approval of the amendment.

“The threat at this point is not that a country in Europe or the U.S. will formally adopt Shariah law, but that Shariah law will be accommodated alongside Western law,” Guy Rodgers, the group’s executive director, said via e-mail.

Backers of the amendment have cited only three cases that they contend show the threat of Shariah law. In each case, though, the courts gave no special dispensation for Shariah law. The activists say the judges erred by treating Muslims as they would other religious groups because Islamic law does not give women the same rights as men.

In the first case, a Maryland court upheld a custody order from a Pakistani court that was decided under Islamic law. Judges in the U.S. are required by federal law to uphold foreign custody orders if they comply with American legal values, but Rodgers argued that no Islamic court could ever meet this criteria.

In the second case, a Texas court let a couple to mediate a property dispute with a private arbitrator. That arbitration was conducted under Islamic law.

It is not unheard of to have religious law dictate private arbitrations in the United States — some observant Jews arbitrate disputes in a rabbinical court — but Rodgers contended that Muslims should be treated differently because their legal system is inherently flawed.

In the third case, a New Jersey judge ruled that a Muslim man could not be guilty of raping his wife because, due to his religion, he believed that a woman is required to have sex with her husband. An appellate court swiftly overturned the ruling, noting that it conflicted with long-established First Amendment jurisprudence that holds that religion does not excuse criminal conduct. The appellate court noted that the same rationale was used, erroneously, to justify polygamous Mormon marriages in the 19th century.

Duncan, an attorney, said that his amendment did not target Muslims. Instead, he said, it singles out “activist judges. . . . That’s all I’m picking on.”

The measure also would ban judges from relying on foreign laws in any way, a reaction to a 2005 Supreme Court ruling that cited other countries’ legal norms in outlawing the execution of minors.

(EDITORS: STORY CAN END HERE)

“When you have a justice on the United States Supreme Court who has stated publicly that the U.S. Supreme Court ought to be able to look to the laws of other countries, it isn’t a stretch to think that some lower court state judge, be it in New Jersey or some other state, would come to the same conclusion,” Duncan said.

Mohammed, of the Islamic Society, said that he feared that the measure could lead to politicians in other states trying to cash in on bashing Shariah law and Islam. “This garbage could really make things bad for Muslims,” he said.

On the other hand, he added, since there is no Shariah in Oklahoma, the amendment is also largely harmless. “I think so little of it,” Mohammed said. “Whether it passes or not, I don’t think it’s going to affect anyone.”

ABOUT THE MEASURE

Excerpts from ballot language for Oklahoma’s State Question 755:

It forbids courts from considering or using international law. It forbids courts from considering or using Shariah law.

International law is also known as the law of nations. It deals with the conduct of international organizations and independent nations, such as countries, states and tribes. . . . The law of nations is formed by the general assent of civilized nations. Sources of international law also include international agreements, as well as treaties.

Shariah law is Islamic law. It is based on two principal sources, the Quran and the teaching of Muhammad.

Can Pakistani 'Millatfacebook' draw Muslims from US Facebook?

ISLAMABAD: Pakistanis outraged with Facebook over “blasphemous” caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed have created a spin-off networking site that they dream can connect the world’s 1.6 billion Muslims, reports AFP.

A group of six young IT professionals from Lahore, the cultural and entertainment capital of Pakistan, Launched www.millatfacebook.com on Tuesday for Muslims to interact online and protest against blasphemy.

The private venture came after a Pakistani court ordered a block on Facebook until May 31, following deep offence over an “Everyone Draw Mohammed Day” page considered “blasphemous” and “sacrilegious”.

“Millatfacebook is Pakistan’s very own, first social networking site. A site for Muslims by Muslims where sweet people of other religions are also welcome,” the website tells people interested in signing up.

Dubbed MFB, after Facebook’s moniker FB, its founder says professionals are working around the clock to offer features similar to those pioneered by the wildly popular California-based prototype.

Each member has a “wall” for friends to comment on. The site offers email, photo, video, chat and discussion board facilities.

The Urdu word “Millat” is used by Muslims to refer to their nation. The website claims to have attracted 4,300 members in the last three days — mostly English-speaking Pakistanis in their 20s.

The number of aficionados may be growing, but the community is a drop in the ocean of the 2.5 million Facebook fans in Pakistan and there have been some scathing early reviews of the start-up.

Neither has Facebook been immediately reachable for comment.

“We want to tell Facebook people ‘if they mess with us they have to face the consequences’,” said Usman Zaheer, the 24-year-old chief operating officer of the software house that hosts the new site.

“If someone commits blasphemy against our Prophet Mohammed then we will become his competitor and give him immense business loss,” he told AFP, dreaming of making “the largest Muslim social networking website”.

Once signed up, members are a click away from debate on the bulletin board.

For example, “Enticing Fury” wrote: “The reason is that this forum must be reserved for ALL MUSLIMS OF THE WORLD and not only Pakistan. So using the word MILLAT is very good!

“Well done guys. You have made a great alternative for the whole Muslim ummah (nation)!”

But the nascent quality of the work-in-progress website has preoccupied and dismayed some, as well as drawn at least one damning newspaper review.

One member wrote: “they need 2 have more info”.

Another posted a mournful: “need games here as well. I miss cafe world” referring to the popular Facebook page where members can run their own virtual cafe.

“It was a good idea… as it can give us a forum to connect, but its reach is too limited,” Mohammad Adeel, a 31-year-old pharmacist told AFP in Karachi, who joined to keep up with friends he missed due to the Facebook ban.

Local newspaper was crushing. “The quality of user experience is so abysmal that it does not merit the humble title, ‘Facebook clone’,” it wrote online.

“To sum up, MillatFacebook is a bold effort… but it is unlikely to capture a large audience, judging by the online experience it offers currently.”

But Zaheer is pleased with his handiwork, saying the site has already attracted members living in Britain, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Russia, the United Arab Emirates and the United States.

Pakistani law student Rana Adeel, 21, signed up to MillatFB in Lahore after receiving invites through SMS and email from friends.

“In two days, I got more than seven friends. If the Facebook ban is lifted, I’ll keep networking on both,” he told AFP.

Congratulations to all . MFB is fully back, better and faster. We are still running some security checks but have fully opened it up. The entire MFB team would like to thank every single member and the supporters for the immense support and look forward to uniting all the Muslims and decent people of all faiths on the platform now termed as the future of online social networking ….. Decent, Secure, User Privacy Protected and Enriched.
Bulletins, Blogs, Walls, Mails, Shout Box, Quizzes, Polls, Games, Chat, e.t.c. are some of the many features offered by MFB for a unique online social experience.

As they say truth and facts speak for themselves. No matter how much anyone tries to hide them, they come out in the open.

Below are some selections from dozens of Media reports showcasing what the World Media has to say about millatfacebook Facebook, starting from most recent and ranging from confirming MFB’s popularity to declaring it a HIT. It is there for all to see.

In addition, all the common queries re MFB are also addressed in the Interview with the Hindustan Times and the Broadcast of Radio Netherlands Worldwide.

Prophet Muhammad's covenant with Christians

Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him) sent a message to the monks of Saint Catherine in Mount Sinai:

“This is a message written by Muhammad ibn Abdullah, as a covenant to those who adopt Christianity, far and near, we are behind them. Verily, I defend them by myself, the servants, the helpers, and my followers, because Christians are my citizens; and by Allah! I hold out against anything that displeases them. No compulsion is to be on them. Neither are their judges to be changed from their jobs, nor their monks from their monasteries. No one is to destroy a house of their religion, to damage it, or to carry anything from it to the Muslims’ houses. Should anyone take any of these, he would spoil God’s covenant and disobey His Prophet. Verily, they (Christians) are my allies and have my secure charter against all that they hate. No one is to force them to travel or to oblige them to fight. The Muslims are to fight for them. If a female Christian is married to a Muslim, this is not to take place without her own wish. She is not to be prevented from going to her church to pray. Their churches are to be respected. They are neither to be prevented from repairing them nor the sacredness of their covenants. No one of the nation is to disobey this covenant till the Day of Judgment and the end of the world.”

Al- Quran 3:55
Behold! God said: “O Jesus! I will take thee and raise thee to Myself and clear thee (of the falsehoods) of those who blaspheme; I will make those who follow thee superior to those who reject faith, to the Day of Resurrection: Then shall ye all return unto me, and I will judge between you of the matters wherein ye dispute.
