SUBJECT: Suggestions on Improving the brand image of Pakistan
Dear Mr. Ambassador:
As Salam Alaikum!
I am one of those Pakistani-American that is one of your great fans. We congratulate you for your patriotic efforts, and thank you for your self-less service. Activists like me have been waging a peaceful and civilized electronic campaign to defend the policies and integrity and interests of Pakistan. I want to approach you with the following ideas to improve the brand image of “Pakistan” and improve the image of Pakistanis.
1) Pakistan should immediately hire the services of several lobbying and marketing firms that can present ideas and execute them with ref. to improving the brand image of Pakistan. The lobbying firms hired by Zia-ul-Haq were very successful.
2) To counter the nonsense spewed by Indian propagandists like Mr. Cohen, Pakistan must hire people like Zbig Brezinski (because he know a positive image of Pakistan), or statesmen of the status of Dennis Kurcinich (after he loses the election) to proffer the Pakistani point of view.
2) The government of Pakistan should establish at least 50 offices in the United Sates, staffed with Pakistani-Americans and Pakistanis that can work with the local population and work with the local politicians in interfaith, and press improvement methods. These should be patterned on the JCRC (Jewish Community Relations Committee) or other successful organizations.
3) Pakistan should create “Press TV” (Iranian TV and news service to counter anti-Iranian propaganda) type of 24 hour satellite news channels in English and beam the Pakistan vision/response to Europe and America. Pakistan should also create 24 hour Arabic and 24 hr. Persian news channels, 24 hours Chinese news channels, 24 hour Hindi news channels which should beam the Pakistani vision to the world. These channels should be free, un-scrambled and available on American and International cable and satellite networks.
4) Pakistan must work with Malaysia, Nigeria, Egypt, Palestine, Saudi Arabia and Libya etc. to change the curriculums of those countries so that a positive image of Pakistan should be created in the minds of Muslims growing up in other countries. Egyptian and Palestinian and other Arab curriculums portray a very bad picture of Pakistan to its students. Turkish curriculums portray a very positive image of Pakistan to the young Turks.
5) Pakistan should create a volunteer or salaried group to about 200 literate and patriotic students/professionals that search the internet on a daily basis (news.google.com/Pakistan) and write civilized and logical responses to the newspapers in America, India and other countries.
6) Pakistani officials must reach out to Christian-Pakistanis and reach out to the evangelist churches in the USA and try to neutralize their rhetoric. Pakistani Christian visitor coming to America destroy the image of Pakistan and are usually very negative about Pakistan.
7) Pakistani universities must create department so of “Hebrew/Jewish studies”, “Hindi/Indian Studies”, “English/Christian studies” that do research on the other religions and languages so that appropriate responses can be created to counter their propaganda.
8) Pakistan has to create an “Encyclopedia of Pakistan” (on the pattern of Jewish-Virtual-Library) that assimilates and propagates the proper message of Pakistan to the new generation.
9) The pathetic condition of PTV has to be improved and brought to the standard of Geo or ARYOneWorld. PTV-Arabic, PTV-Persian should create and give away “dramas” and movies in Arabic and Persian and send them free of charge to Arab countries with subtle messages. PTV shos Punjabi songs, but it must also show Baluchi, Sindhi and Pushto songs.
10) Japan, Korea and China must be approached to improve Taxila and the areas in the Gandhara civilization. “Archeological tours” as well as “religious tours” should be offered to Buddhists of Asia and other areas.
11) Pakistan has to create and staff Pakistan Cultural Centers in major Arab and Western countries. New York, Washington, and Los Angeles must have nice buildings which would offer visitors/students access to libraries. These centers should be the center of cultural, music, arts and language instructions. The centers must show Pakistani movies and the Pakistani point of view to the visitors. Major Pakistani historians can visit these on a periodic basis with lectures on Pakistan.
12) Pakistani newspaper in the USA and the West must be funded via government advertisements so that they can reach ordinary Americans and Westerners as well as Arabs and Iranians.
13) Pakistani authors must be encouraged to write books like the “Indus saga” which propagate the Pakistani reason for existence.
14) A cadre of Pakistani authors must be employed to write pro-Pakistani opinion column in major Pakistani newspapers. This has to be done on a weekly basis.
15) To reach Western audiences, the Pakistani point of view has to be propagated in short video clips via www.Youtube.com type of websites
