The Bharati Army is all its wisdom is planning a move which involves a fresh accretion of close to 89,000 soldiers and 400 officers on the Chinese border. The focus, is to have the ability to launch a counter-offensive into Tibet in case of a Siachin or, or Azad Kashmir, or 1962, or “Kargil-type adventure” by China. During the Kargil war, the Bharati forces were found napping, and Pakistani irergular non-army forces called the Lightning Brigade took over abandoned peaks–an action that mirrored the Siachin adventure by Bharat.
The proposal to create the counter-offensive by Bharat was first mooted in 2010 but was sent back last year with instructions for a re-look by all three services so that a common plan could be drawn up. The new cost is Rs 65,000 crore.
According to press reports, the the plan for around 90,000 troops has been approved.
The initial Chinese reaction to the Bharati provocation will be muted. The real reaction will be seen on the ground with thousands of Chinese soldiers, perhaps three or four times as many as the Bharatis will now face each other on the McMohan line.
One can also imagine that the Chinese wil move their planes, missiles near the border.
