Moscow was taken aback by the strong emotional feelings of loss in Islamabad at the cancellation of the Putin trip. It hurriedly dispatched Mr. Putin’s Foreign Minister. The Russian Foreign Minister signed all the MOUs with Russia on behalf of President Putin. General Kayani is on the way to Moscow and Foreign Minister Khar may follow.
Just one day ago “they” were ecstatic that the president of the same Russia had rebuffed Pakistan. When it turns out that there was no relational hick-up, only a logistical rescheduling, all of a sudden it has become a “3rd rate power”!!!!
They need to make up their mind.
A third rate power, aligned with a 2nd rate power tied up with a 7th Nuclear power in a geographically contiguous regional grouping creates nuisance value for those who are oceans across.
As far is Bharat is concerned–Kissinger said it best “its dangerous to be America’s enemy, but far more dangerous to be America’s friend”. With the Nuclear 123 deal in a deep freeze, Delhi has no love lost for the USA, –with the imminent victory of Modi (who has been repeatedly denied a visa to the USA because of his pro-Hitler views) Bharat will move further to the right–lets see what that brings to table.
With a Taliabn comeback assured, and with Tajikistan slipping out of Russian control, Moscow needs new friends. Putin’s visit would have helped there, but stuff happened and he could not make it.
General Kayani is going to Moscow for a military relationship which has been approved. Russia has agreed to sell Pakistan “anti-terror” equipment”.
As we have said repeatedly, “they” will leave Afghanistan sooner than 2014 and their attempt to keep a large presence after the “withdrawal” will fail.
The Taliban wont get into power–they already control most of Afghanistan, and the so called Afghan National Army is so infested with them, that NATO and the US has stopped al joint missions with them. Karzai and Abdullah have been shopping for houses in London and Mumbai. Omar will swap his Suzuki motor-bike for a Hummer!
NATO has announced a rapid departure in 2013, and Obama will too (goals on OBL and Al-Qaida have been accomplished). Al-Qaeda of course is now being supported in Libya and Syria by the same allies that supported it in Afghanistan against the USSR
