According to a PEW poll conducted in 2009, 89% of the people of Pakistan identified themselves only as Pakistanis, and not as part of any ethnic, linguistic or factional group. This proclamation by 89% of Pakistanis is a huge statement by the nation which does not want to be identified by any appelation other than Pakistani.
