It is a hard to find sanity on the pages of the Murdock Media, the Indian press and a section of the Pakistan Newspapers that has been purchased. Here we have some semblance of reality from some of the Stalwarts of the Pakistani establishment. We quote three patriots in this articles, the irascible Imran Khan, the pugnacious Roedad Khan and the resolute Owais Ahmad Ghani. All three represent the voice of the Pakistani people. The National Assembly of Pakistan has passed a resolution asking the US to stop the drones and for the Pakistani Government to make peace with the militants.
Truth not Orwellian propaganda: Best article on Afghanistan anywhere
The stories of the poor widow and the orphaned child does not make it to CNN or Fox. Of course the sycophantic media outlets like the Pakistani Dawn are too busy transcribing the stories off the Wall Street Journal to do an in- depth story on the suffering of the Pakistani victims of the predators
At least one million Pakistan are refugees in their own country. These are the sons and daughters that defeated the mighty USSR and forced it to retreat back to the Caucus mountains where they were chased by the Chechniyans and the Dagistanis. The ensuing defeat in Afghanistan and Pakistan led to the implosion of the USSR.
No tears for the 3.6 million refugees who had leave their homes and find refuge in Pakistan. Millions went back but millions stayed back in Pakistan transforming a peaceful country into a Kalashnikov ridden volcano.
No memorials of to the 2 million Muslims and Pakistan who gvae their lives in destroying the Soviet Union.
Today one million Pakistan are paying the price for the covert actions that Vice President Joe Bidenwould not talk about on Face The Nation with Jim Shaeffer. When asked about the covert operations into Pakistan, Mr. Bidensaid “I won’t talk about it”. He then added “You know Jim, I am very open with you, but I can’t talk about this, and won’t talk about it”.
What are those covert operations?
Well, mosques, and Imam baras don’t just being blowing up on their own. Girls schools which have been in existence for decades don’t just catch fire. Fake videos are not simply released as April Fools Day.

OAG: The world is responsible for Afghanistan, all the troubles we face here are from Afghanistan, the roots of the problems are in Afghanistan, not in Pakistan. We have been battling the fallout from Afghanistan and I say it is not Pakistan’s responsibility. Nobody should blame Pakistan because, number one, we never invited the Soviet army into Afghanistan. It was the Afghans themselves. We never brought international terrorists into Afghanistan. It was not our ISI [Inter-Services Intelligence] or anybody, it was international intelligence agencies, over and above the objections of the ISI.
There was a basic agreement that only Pakistani intelligence would deal with the [Afghan mujahideen groups in the 1980s] and jihadi organizations and everybody in Europe and the US supported this. But they started their own operations and they were warned that they would not be able to control these people. And that is exactly what happened. But Pakistan was not responsible for that prove that the government never used power first. Every time we conducted military operations, it was as retaliation. Whether it is the tribal areas, Swat, or elsewhere, we only responded to violence committed by the militants. Owais Ahmad Ghani
Roedad Khan has been a pillar of the Pakistani government since the 60s. Anyone trying to understand the Pakhtuns and thier love for Pakistan must heed the voice of sanity from Roedad Khan.No matter what we thinks of his personal stature, Roedad Khan understands Americans. He clearly comprehends that one cannot look at the symptom, one has to look at the root cause of the issues. 1 million displaced Pakistanis victims of US drone bombing, CIA Covert Ops & Indian sabotage

When Freedom fighters turn terrorist
Myth No. 1: This is Pakistan’s war
Since no Pakistani was involved in 9/11 and the CIA-trained Al Qaeda was based in Afghanistan, how does it concern us? It is only when General Musharraf buckled under US pressure and sent our troops into Waziristan in late 2003-early 2004 that Pakistan became a war zone. It took another three years of the Pakistan army following the same senseless tactics as used by the US and NATO forces in Afghanistan (aerial bombardment) plus the slaughter at Lal Masjid, for the creation of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). If our security forces are being targeted today by the Taliban and their suicide bombers, it is because they are perceived to be proxies of the US army. Iran is ideologically opposed to both Al Qaeda and the Taliban yet why are its security forces not attacked by terrorists? The answer is because their President does not pretend to be a bulwark against Islamic extremism in return for US dollars and support.
Michael Scheuer(ex-CIA officer and author of the book Imperial Hubris), writing in The Washington Post in April 2007, cited Musharraf’s loyalty to the US even when it went against Pakistan’s national interests by giving two examples: the first was Musharraf helping the US in removing a pro-Pakistan Afghan government and replacing it with a pro-Indian one; and, the second, for sending Pakistani troops into the tribal areas and turning the tribesmen against the Pakistan army. To fully understand Musharraf’s treachery against Pakistan, it is important to know that almost a 100,000 troops were sent into the tribal areas to target around 1000 suspected Al-Qaeda members – thus earning the enmity of at least 1.5 million armed local tribals in the 7 tribal agencies of Pakistan.
The most shameful aspect of the lie that this is our war is that the government keeps begging the US for more dollars stating that the war is costing the country more than the money it is receiving from the US. If it is our war, then fighting it should not be dependent on funds and material flowing from the US. If it is our war, why do we have no control over it? If it is our war, then why is the US government asking us to do more?
The sycophantic government cannot kowtow to the whims and wishes of the “special envoys” who are tring to convince the Pakistanis that the real enemy is not Bharat. Here is some news for Holbrooke and company. The Pakistanis are not convinced. The recent writings of Imran Khan, Roedad Khan and are clear proof that the 5th Column’s attempts to obfuscate the issues is not working. Opinion Polls are also showing that the US and Bharat are at the top of the list of enemies.Imran Khan
Ubiquitous foreign propaganda cannot hide the truth. “They” want to convince us to begin fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan so that “they” can get off the hook. That is why the TTP was nurtured by “them”, armed by them and named by them as “Taliban”. This is to obfuscatrethe difference between the the Anti Taliban in Afghanistan and the anti-Pakistan militants in Swat. This in depth analysis describes the reality of Swat and the Taliban.
The secular vs Islam discussion is typical of the defeatist attitude. These are not the real issues. These are distractions. The REAL and ONLY issue is the occupation of Afghanistan—The US occupation of Afghanistan is the root of all evil. Everything else derives from it. Once that ends, we can solve our issues.
The 1973 constitution was endorsed by all madhabs, and firqas…essentially only TWO (Shia and Sunni). The 72 firqas is nonsensical fiction created by those who want to malign Islam and demoralize Muslims. The same liberals who speak volumes against the Taliban are quiet about the Iranian theocracy and rule which killed two million in the “revolution”.
”They” sow the seeds of dissention, and we are dumb enough to go marching for “democracy’, “restoration” and the rest.

Marriot: What was the US Marine role?
The greatest threat facing Pakistan comes from terrorism not India”, said US Army General David Petraeus in a speech at Harvard University. “The existential threat”, Petraeus said, “is internal extremists and not India”. Similar alarming statements emanate daily from Washington. Contrary to what the Obama administration says, the greatest threat to Pakistan, in fact the entire Islamic world, stems not from religious militancy and sectarianism but from the surging American imperialism. Terrorism is not indigenous to Pakistan. It is the direct consequence of American invasion and occupation of Afghanistan and American Drone attacks in FATA. Religious extremism and sectarianism are symptoms of a chronic malady which has afflicted the Islamic world since the demise of the Holy Prophet. It is not a new phenomenon. It is an internal dispute with liberalizers or secularists within our religion. American imperialism, on the other hand, poses an altogether different and much more dangerous threat.

This is the darkest era in the history of Islam since the 13th century when the Mongols ransacked the Islamic world. Those who oppose American aggression are branded anti-American, terrorists and extremists. Afghanistan and Iraq, two sovereign, independent Muslims countries are under American military occupation. “Anyone can see what happened in Iraq. It was nothing more than a war of colonial conquest fought for oil, dressed up as a crusade for western life and liberty. And its authors were a clique of war – hungry Judeo – Christian geo-political fantasists who hijacked the media and exploited America’s post-September 11 psychopathy”. These words are not mine; they are spoken in John leCarres’s new novel “Absolute Friends” and all too accurately expose the true nature of the so-called American war against terrorism. Afghans paid a horrible price for not meeting US demands and defying the world’s sole superpower. Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are next on the hit list…
All the CIA and the Neocon press has is the same old, same old, hackneyed diatribe, no new ideas, no fresh platform to send a positive message–just cultural warfare’s putrid garbage that’s stinks like a gallon of old milk oozing nauseating effluvium past its sell date. The stale odor of positions and policies of the East India Company failed five centuries ago still stink up to high heaven. They failed before and won’t succeed now!

So what is to be done? Margaret Mead once said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has”.
Nowhere is that more accurately reflected than in the handful of persons who rallied round the deposed chief justice and changed the course of history in Pakistan. So let us get together. The battle for the restoration of deposed Judges is over. The Battle for Pakistan is about to begin.
America has turned Afghanistan into the mother of all quagmires and is threatening to enact the same gory drama in Pakistan. They have destroyed a sovereign, independent country and shattered an equilibrium that kept Pashtuns and non-Pashtuns from each other’s throats for centuries. Their presence in Afghanistan and Pakistan is unwelcome and disruptive. Obama is sinking further and further into an endless conflict and a black hole in Afghanistan. The wisest thing America can do in its own national interest is to follow the first rule of holes, stop digging and get out.

Pakistan is not the only country facing Indian terror. Sri Lanka faces the same threat from the same enemy.
The US tax Dollars are at work. The war in Iraq destroyed a first world country which had cradle to grave first class health care, and world class education. The war in Iraq murdered 1 million Iraqi civilians, and made refugees out of 3 million. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis are unaccounted for, and the country once a paradise for its people who paid 25 cents for a gallon of gas, is now a war zone which has bankrupted the US and most of Europe. Perhaps Saddam Husein was right. This was the mother of all battles.
The American tax payer is supporting the war in Afghanistan. Once touted as the war to liberate women, today it is a quagmire for NATO and America’s new Vietnam. The first woman who came out to condemn the Taliban recently left Afghanistan saying that Kabul was safer under the Taliban. After the “liberation” the Poppy growing state has become a narco state that fuels the terror in all countries that surround it. Humvees in Afghanistan avoid destroying the poppy crops because it may antagonize the war lord that has been bought over by NATO. Friend during the day, at night the same war lord helps the Taliban kill the NATO forces.

Re “60 Miles From Islamabad” (editorial, April 27):
The surge of Islamic militancy threatens Pakistan’s progressive aspirations, but it is not an existential threat. It can be reversed, but only through a nationally endorsed Pakistani strategy, not one “made in America.”
The onus for action against the insurgency cannot continue to be put on the Pakistani Army. Pakistan is now ruled by a civilian democratic government. Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has declared that the army will carry out the government’s policies. The Swat deal, whatever its flaws, was negotiated by the elected Frontier provincial government and endorsed by the Pakistani Parliament.
United States aerial strikes, dictation and coercion only strengthen support for the militants in the Frontier and reinforce the common perception that Pakistan is being forced to fight “America’s war.” Pakistani concerns are further aroused by American demands that Pakistan move troops away from its eastern border even while India continues to deploy three-fourths of its vast forces against Pakistan. In Afghanistan, the United States finds itself in a position similar to that of Nathan Rothschild, more than 150 years ago. The richest man in the world in the early decades in the 19th century, Rothschild died in 1837 of an infection of which the poorest Englishman could easily have been cured in the next century by readily available antibiotics. All of Rothschild’s wealth could not give him what had not yet been invented, and all of the vast military and economic might of the United States cannot secure what lies beyond the power of guns to compel and money to buy – victory in Afghanistan.
It is a misconception that Pakistan is, or is on the point of becoming a “failed state”. The Joint Forces Command recently issued a study saying that Pakistan could be in danger of rapid and sudden collapse. It most assuredly will not. Pakistan has demonstrated an impressive capacity to overcome crises of which we have had our fair share. Pakistan is not case of failed state. It is a case of failed leadership. … Isn’t it a great tragedy that at a time when statesmanship of a very high order is the need of the hour, public stage is filled by weak-kneed triflers, mountebanks and charlatans begrimed with corruption?
… In the words of Oliver Hardy, “a fine mess they have got us into”. Democracy is a splendid conception, but it has a disadvantage on occasions of placing in the lead men whose hands are dirty, who are mired in corruption, who are dodgy, who will sap the strength of a country, not in years, but over a period of months, who will demoralize and encompass the collapse of a great nation in the space of a few months. When a nation is in crisis, it needs a man to match the time. In other countries, crises produced great leaders. In our country, leaders produce crises. When they go abroad or speak to Foreign Heads of State, Pakistanis sit on the edge of their collective seats wondering how their rulers will embarrass them next.
…These are times that try men’s souls and moments when love for your country overrides all other considerations and calls for supreme sacrifice. It is not enough to sit back and let history slowly evolve. To settle back into your cold-hearted acceptance of the status quo is not an option. At times like these it is necessary to venture into the hazardous wilderness. The present leadership is taking Pakistan to a perilous place. The course they are on leads downhill. It appears as if we are on a phantom train that is fast gathering momentum and we cannot get off. I am reminded of some lines from an unknown writer about a railway accident:
