How long can Zardari last? Whither 18th Amendment?

The Pakistani intelligentsia is up in arms against the compliant President who now has lower ratings than any leader of Pakistan ever. To solve the matter, the obsequious Zardari government has now banned the IRI from taking any more polls and denied the IRI pollsters visas to Pakistan.

The Pakistani people never trusted the subservient and currupt Mr. Zardari who has amassed a fotune worth $1.3 Billion. Not in their wildest dreams could the Pakistnais imagine that my voting for BenazirBhutto, they would be saddled with Mr. Zardari. They way he maneuvered the chaos of last years assassination leaves the best of politicians aghast and repused at the same time.

The frustration level of the political elite, the army, the common man, and the political establishment is represented by the stories about Mr. Zardari.

Zafar Hilaly a brilliant Pakistani diplomat wrote a prodigiously effulgent article in the News questioning the credentials of Mr. Zardari and taking him to task for missed opportunities during his travels to London, Dubai, Washington, Tripoli and back.

Dr. Shahid Masood excoriated the head of state of Pakistan about his antics overseas. His guests lambasted the president on what he was doing, or not doing.

Roedad Khan a Septuagenarian politicians a fan of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and a supported of the PPP berated the president of Pakistan for doing America’s bidding.

In fact, no one has come to his defense, not his Prime Minister, and not his PPPP. They have all left him to hand out and dry. The PPPP has given him enough rope to hang himself. No Pakistani ever says anything good about the man. The Americans are now talking to the tongue tied Mr. Sharif who sounds like an eloquent speaker in front of Mr. Zardari.

Mr. Zardari’s comical statements about India not being an enemy, his nonsensical statements on Kashmir, his handing over of the Thar Coalfields to India, his non-chalant attitude on purchasing nuclear material from Kazakhstan, his exaggeration of the Nuclear deal made with France, his appointment of the Neocon Ambassador to Washington, his servitude in allowing cross-border trade with India, his ridiculous assurance on “no first use” of nuclear weapons are only some of the reasons why he is reviled in Pakistan.

Lee Kwon Yu, one of the finest leaders of any country anywhere ran the city state with a band of Ivy League PhDs. The results cannot be contested. Can the Zardarirun the country with the likes of the traitorous Hussian Haqqani, the incredulous Salman Taseer,  Rehman Malik the nincompoop, and the garrulous Babar Awan? Are these the only “stalwarts” that are available in Pakistan?

So how are things going to change?

The Presidency is supposed to a ceremonial post in a parliamentary democracy. The nation awaits a returning the 1973 constitution to its pre-Musharraf days, so that the Prime Minister can run the country without the diktats of a dictatorial president. Mr. Zardari in a speech before taking over the presidency promised the nation that he would voluntarily give up the powers and return them to the parliament where they belong. That promise remains unfulfilled.

Can Mr. Sharif become Prime Minister of Pakistan?

As soon as the Supreme Court hears the case of Mr. Nawaz Sharif or even before that, the National Assembly and Senate may decide that they have had enough. They could past the 18th amendment, or simply reverse the parts of the 17th amendment that allow the controversial line item called 58/2-b which disturbs the balance of power between the presidency and the prime minister gives the prime minister the primacy that was intended under the framers of the constitution.

The Americans are talking to Mr. Nawaz Sharif. Will be be able to convince them that he won’t be too Anti-American if he comes into office. Hoping 3 Times a Charm? Appeasement noises from the Sharifs

If President Zardari doesn’t have the brains or the  intelligence to defend the policies Pakistan maybe he should borrow a page from the former president who can at least speak eloquently and shut up virulent Pakistanphobes like Fareed Zakaria.

moin i dont understand that musharraf was a general of army the armed forces of pakistan how the hell he got scared and ran off the post if he knew how to handle the situation.ofcourse he was part of the problem but now he shud be the part of the solution.
i dont know wat ur opinion about sharif is but trusting him will be the biggest mistake ever.
the best way is to tell america to direct airborne their ammo to afghan not using pak routes any more we will build a big wall on our borders and tell them to play with taliban leave us alone

Cutting off the supply lines and ending US aid and starting an amicable divorce would be the best solution.

I think Musharaf a thousand times better than Zardari and will be better than Nawazoo, but the CIA funded Ahtizaz Ahsan and his “lawyers’ had other things in mind….just like the removal of Ayub Khan was instigated by the lawyers in preperation for the Dhaka debacle, the removal of Musharraf was a prelude to what is happening now.

Thousands read Rupee News everyday. I wish millions did. I wish I could shake all Pakistanis to comprehend what is going on

i remember a sentence said by mr zaid hamid that if ifthikar chaudhary was really a patriotic pakistani he would say to his supporting lawyers thats they must priorities the current scenario going on in pakistan rather can bycotting and creatting more trouble of pakistan but he didnt just an example that how the law makers are the real law breakers
i will say a joke said by omer shareef he said only those ppl who know the law can break the law or twist it but the one who dont know the law will never know how to break it or twist it for its benefit.
one more thing i will also mention that imran khan is 110% right when he says that “kanoon ki baladasti honi chahiye” because the law in pakistan is to catch small ppl not big criminals or traitors. i dont think there is any law in our constitution that says this is the punishment for traitors thats why u see there are more in pak than any where else.
my point was before that musharraf shud have sacrificed his life if he was really a patriotic pakistani coz not forgetting the fact that he remained a army general for long and in his words i have a 40 yrs relation with this dress as he has kept his love with pakistan more than his dress he shud have died protection our mother land but he did not he in his own min gracefully step down putting thousands of pakistans in danger
any cia supported head of state will be like a monkey with a loaded gun
and about benazir im sorry to say she was also some part of zia’s murder and secondly she was also corrupt and thirdly most importantly she got wat she deserved
