In the face of mounting doubt and the excalating rhetoric coming from across the border, the Zardari administration has reevaluated its thinking on India. He found out that he has been sold a bill of goods and been duped by the Indians. He was led to believe that the UN resolution was a formality to appease the Indian hawks and once the resolutino was passed all rhetoric against Paksitan would stop. The straw that broke the camels back was the intrusion of Pakistani territory by Indian planes.
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari has said there is still no firm proof that gunmen who attacked the Indian city of Mumbai came from Pakistan.
…speaking to the BBC, Mr Zardari said there was still no conclusive evidence to substantiate the claim. However he promised Pakistan would take action if a link was proved. More than 170 people died in last month’s attacks in Mumbai (Bombay), which India blamed on the Lashka-e-Taiba militant group.

Mr Zardari told the BBC’s Alan Little in Islamabad that Pakistan was prepared to act if adequate evidence of any Pakistani complicity in the attacks emerged.
“If that stage comes, and when it comes, I assure you that our parliament, our democracy, shall take the action properly deemed in our constitution and in our law,” he said.
He said that Western intelligence agencies had not offered firm evidence to justify claims that the attacks were orchestrated from Pakistani soil and that he would not jump to conclusions until a full investigation had been conducted.
Mr Zardari said claims that the sole surviving attacker had been identified by his own father as coming from Pakistan had not been proven. The man has been named as Mohammed Ajmal Amir Qasab and is in Indian police custody.
The Pakistani president also said Hafiz Saeed, the leader of the Jamaat-ud-Dawa charity, would remain under house arrest.
Pakistan says that terrorism is a common enemy“Let me assure you that if there is any investigation to be found pointing towards his involvement in any form of terrorism, he shall be tried for that reason,” the president said.
Jamaat-ud-Dawa is accused of being a front for Lashkar-e-Taiba, a charge it denies.
Mr Zardari said that he had asked India to co-operate in an investigation and he would not leap to judgement while that investigation was continuing.
He said that while he was not in denial about Lashkar-e-Taiba’s continued activities, ”when you ban an organisation they emerge in some other form”. The Indian intrusion was a rude awakening for the PPPP and the doves in the PPPP administration. Pakistani president Asif Zardari has firmly and categorically rejected the notion that any Pakistanis were invloved in the terror activities in Pakistan. If there was any proof, why hasn’t India submitted the proof to Islamabad. The entire game is based on rumor and hearsay.

The Lashkar has denied involvement, but remains the prime accused. According to the police and intelligence agencies, the Lashkar operates in India through an organization called the “Indian Mujahideen”. Two Indian nationals, Sheikh Mukhtar Ahmed, a special police officer working for the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Tausif Rehman, a resident of Kolkata in West Bengal, have been arrested in connection with the Mumbai attacks. So already the neat accusation against Pakistan is getting a little messy.

Mr. Zardari has been jolted by the games played by the Indian establishment to improve and consolidate their domestic electoral gains. He once used to say that “India is not the enemy”. Now he has learned his lesson. Or has he?

‘Hiccup’
Meanwhile, Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has expressed regret after his Indian counterpart said peace moves between the countries were on hold because of the Mumbai attacks.
But Mr Qureshi said relations between the two countries – which both have nuclear arms – would recover.
“This unfortunate incident has been a setback… to the extent that our composite dialogue is at a pause at the moment,” Mr Qureshi said.
“But I am confident that we will overcome this hiccup… the future of Pakistan demands good neighbourly relations with India, so it’s my responsibility to develop good bilateral relations.”
Mr Qureshi said that the two countries had a “common objective, a common challenge and a common enemy” in relation to “terrorism”. BBC

Zardari will learn a lot more ugly truths about his Indian idols (pun intended) that he followed like a love-sick groupie, as did his wife. (He probably thought that because he looks Hindu, they will love him).
And Qureishi, he’s so easily rattled. They needed somebody with a backbone.

He failed to say, as he should’ve, that the future of India also demands ‘good neighbourly relations’ with Pakistan! Maybe he spent his time in Cambridge flying kites instead of studying.
I never liked Musharraf and his policies post 9/11 which did great harm to Pakistan, but at least he spoke effectively and once in a blue moon, he spoke the truth and got Pakistan’s perspective across e.g. when he told the western media to stop lecturing Pakistan about democracy when it took most of them many centuries, indeed almost a millenia, to become democracies whilst they expected it on tap in Pakistan, though it was only founded 60 years ago.
Ajmal Kasab belongs to Pakistan, says Nawaz Sharif
Challenging President Asif Ali Zardari’s assertion that there was no proof that the arrested Mumbai attacker hailed from Pakistan’s Punjab province, former premier Nawaz Sharif has said that the suspect’s village was cordoned off and his parents were not allowed to meet anyone.

I still doubt it that Ajamal Kasab & co were PAKISTANIS despite the fact that it is only Pakistanis who have Guts,courage n balls 2 commit such a ferocious attack.
India planned this attack for some time. Pakistan as usual, is falling into india’s RAW agencies plan(they carried out the Mumbai attack themselves).
After the exposure of hardline Hindu’s in recent terrorist attacks such as Samjhota railroad carriage and bomb explosions within india by hardline hindu actively serving in the indian army, the government of india had to divert attention from this verrry embarasing fact,
im ashamed of india,our government is wanting war, i feel embarased to be called indian, i dont suport india’s occupation of Khalistan, Kashmir and Tamil nadu. we are going against hinduism and its peace path.
