The Maldives are a group of islands in the Indian Ocean. Muslim Maldives joins China’s-string of pearls-threat to India. Its population is 100% Muslim. The island paradise has seen attempts by India to take it over and it has rested all attempts at absorption into its larger neighbor. In November 1988, a group of Maldivians headed by Mr. Lutfee a small time businessman aided by the Indian backed Tamils took over the island. This was a total and unmitigated disaster for India. The population stood up to the Indian attempt to take over the island and President Gayoom was able to stage a counter coup and return to power. India sent troops to the Maldives ostensibly to help the government had to withdraw.
Muslim Maldives should accede to Pakistan
To bring the smaller Independent States/countries in the Indian sphere of influence with the use of RAW, the case of Maldives makes an important example. In November 1988, the Eilam Peoples’ Liberation Front comprising about 200 Tamil secessionists on the pay roll of RAW were tasked to stage the drama of an uprising on that peaceful island. At the request of the President of Maldives, Mr Mamoon Abdul Qayyum, Indian Armed Forces ‘quelled’ the insurgency engineered by themselves and thus tried to sneak into the administrative mechanism of that peace-loving country. The Maldives ([?m?lda?vz] (help·info) or [?m?ldi?vz], or Maldive Islands), officially the Republic of Maldives, is an island nation consisting of a group of atolls stretching south of India’s Lakshadweep islands between the Minicoy and the Chargos archipelagoes, and about seven hundred kilometres (435 mi) south-west of Sri Lanka in the Laccadive Sea of Indian Ocean. The twenty-six atolls of Maldives encompass a territory featuring 1,192 islets, two hundred and fifty islands of which are inhabited.
The word Dheeb/Deeb (archaic Dhivehi) means ‘island nation’ and Dhives (Dhivehin) means ‘islanders’ (ie: the Maldivians). During the colonial era, the Dutch referred to the country as Maldivische Eilanden in their documentation, while “Maldive Island” is the anglicized version of the local name, used by the British, which later came to be written as Maldives.
medieval Arab travelers such as Ibn Batuta called the islands “Mahal Dibiyat” from the Arabic word Mahal (“palace”).” [6] This is the name currently inscribed in the scroll of the Maldive state emblem. (wiki)

The Malidives are very weary of attempts by larger neighbors to take over the island.
Meanwhile, Islam remains the only official religion of The Maldives with popular support of the people of the Republic. The open practice of all other religions are forbidden and such actions are liable to prosecution under the law of the country. According to the revised constitution, in article two, it says that the republic “is based on the principles of Islam.” Article nine says that “a non-Muslim may not become a citizen of the Maldives”; number ten says that “no law contrary to any principle of Islam can be applied in the Maldives.” Article nineteen states that “citizens are free to participate in or carry out any activity that is not expressly prohibited by sharia or by the law.” Wiki

India losing out to Chinese interests in it’s neighbourhood. Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh share better relations with Beijing than New Delhi. Similarly we also want to keep the non muslim world muslim free & expell shameless muslims living on our lands
Moin ansari saheb,
Maldivians are doing a great job keeping Maldives 100% Muslim. I think all Muslim countries should strive towards that noble goal. The catch of course is that in another 20 years Maldives will drown thanks in part to all the coal that their enemies (the Indians) and the friends (Chinese) are going to burn. I hope the Maldiivians will then turn to the Land of the Pure for asylum, not India or Lanka.

Well you could begin with the 250,000 stranded Biharis in Dhaka. I am sure Sindhis will open their arms to them as enthusiastically in 2008 as they did to other Hindoostani Muslims in 1947.
