Good for Pakistan, 11 agreements with the economic miracle of 21st century, China !
All its economic woes are now going to disappear like magic, as China is waiting to pour-in billions of dollars into Pak economy.
Bye bye US grants, and loan waivers !

Pakistan’s 9% growth rate was derailed to 5.8% in 2008. A delibitating earthquake, and destabilizing efforts by Indian intelligence agents in SWAT and FATA did create fiscal and political issues for Pakistan. The loss to Pakistan because of the war in Afghanistan was $20 Billion per annum. That has expanded to $50 Billion now. Contrary to some beliefs, the current budget deficits are due to the oil prices and an empowered and liberal import policy that came out of 8 year expansion cycle. These issues are cyclical and faced by Argentina, Brazil, the USA and UK also.

The new government, the war in Afghanistan, and some capital flight led to some of the temporary woes. Higher energy usage because of the increased wealth (cars, air conditioners) led to a shortages of electricity.

The US admitting defeat in Afghanistan is now talking to the Taliban. As the NATO and IASAF fdorces retreat, the 107 Indian Consulates will be sent home packing bringing Afghanistan back to the road of normalcy and possibly reunion with Pakistan.

An expanded FTA, increased trade zones, new high speed rail links between Gwader and Beijing, a $300 million Electronic complex, space cooperation, $1.5 Billion, in addition to the six industrial zones and Chinese international universities will go a long way in increasing the growth rate of Pakistan and will deepen the China-Pakistan ties.

As the world financial markets falter, Pakistan was the first to feel the pressure, and the first to get out of it. By next year, the emphasis on agriculture and energy will enable Pakistan to overcome this years fiscal difficulties.

The Indian glee at the temporary fiscal woes shows the deep enmity towards Pakistan and Pakistanis and hides the dismal ranking of India in the Hunger Index jsut release. The hunger index ranks India the lowest in South Asia, worse off than Burkino Faso and slightly better than Haiti and Bangladesh. So much for “Incredible India”
