Solution: ‘Pakistani boots’ on the ground inside Afghanistan

It is apparent that the United States intelligence services know that much of the mischief in Afghanistan is Indian. The public statements however do not mention the negative role of India at all. In the US media the 38 anti-insurgency groups are lumped into one called “Taliban“. Nothing could be further from the truth. For example Soviet war veteran Gulbadin Hikmatyar is now allied with the former Northern Alliance and is in opposition to Mr. Karzai’s own politician party.

Indian RAW is more than active in Afghanistan. It is creating problems for Pakistan in FATA and Baluchistan. In FATA it is supporting the evil Bait Mehsud with arms ammunition and logistical support. Mehsud is provided cover by ISAF and NATO forces. Whenever Pakistani forces reach him, he is given intelligence and evades capture or death. Mehsud has repeatedly tried to harm the Pakistan-China relations and has waged war on Pakistani civilians and the Pakistani leadership.

The US Defense & Foreign Affairs Special Analysis sheds light on the activities of RAW in and around Kabul. The US had grave reservations about Pervez Musharraf, and did not trust him. It is an open secret that the US establishment, the thinktanks and the media considered the Musharraf government duplicitous and not serving American interests. In recently revealed excerpts of conversations, Mr. Bush thought that Mr. Musharraf was quietly supporting Pakistani interests and not he;ping the US. President Musharraf was a huge impediment in the way of RAW machinations. Withhis removalal a more compliant president Zardari will work with the new Afghan president Zalmay Khalilzad (expected to win the next elections in Afghanistan). Zalmay Khalilzad and Asif Zardari have been involved in a long term tet-a-tet even before the murder of Ms. Benzair Bhutto.

U.S. media reporting and U.S. officials, buying their own propaganda that the war against the Taliban is going well – a process known in the intelligence community as ‘drinking your own bathwater’ – and insisting that the problem is only that Pakistan is “not doing enough in the war on terror” have failed to understand that (a) Pakistan has committed more men and lives to the “war on terror” than the U.S., but is also suffering far more from it than the U.S., and (b) that Pakistan is using both carrot and stick to achieve long-term victory over terrorism, insurgency, and secessionist or anarchical tendencies in its border areas. A U.S. Report: India, Not Pakistan, Creating Trouble For NATO In Afghanistan

  • Ø The U.S. intelligence community is well aware OF the covert support by the Indian Government and its intelligence services – principally RAW – for the jihadist movement.
  • Ø The Indians are feeding the Americans ‘tailored intelligence’
  • Ø One solution is to put ‘pakistaniboots’ on the ground inside afghanistan
  • Ø If the U.S. wanted to “put boots on the ground”, it would be best served by offering to put US Army Corps of Engineers capabilities into the tribal areas to help build roads, clinics, schools

GWOT: Map of possible war with Iran Iraq Afghanistan Pakistan

WASHINGTON, D.C.-The U.S. conduct of the war in Afghanistan has created an enormous potential for instability in Pakistan, which Washington has claimed is a major ‘non-NATO ally’ on which it depends.

U.S. and Western media reporting currently portrays the problems facing ISAF as coming into Afghanistan from Pakistan, but the reality is the reverse of this: stirring the problem in Afghanistan causes problems to flow into Pakistan.

Always brushed aside in Washington discussions is the reality that Pakistan still cares for 3.5-million Afghanirefugees remaining from the earlier proxy war which the U.S. waged from 1980 to 1988 against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan. And, with the U.S.-led conflict against the Taliban in Afghanistan since September 11, 2001, the problems continue to pour from Afghanistan into Pakistan.

Moreover, as the U.S. intelligence community is well aware, this is a problem is exacerbated because of covert support by the Indian Government and its intelligence services – principally RAW, the Research & Analysis Wing – for the jihadist movement.

India’s involvement follows an historical geopolitical pattern, but much of it is institutionalized as ‘payback’ for Pakistani Government support for the Muslim separatist movement in Indian-occupied Jammu & Kashmir over the past decades. At the same time, close U.S.-Indian intelligence ties at a formal level and within the Afghan battlespace mean that India is feeding a range of ‘tailored intelligence’ into the U.S. system which shapes U.S. political and intelligence perceptions of the situation, encouraging the belief that ‘Pakistan is the problem’ in resolving the counter-Taliban conflict in Afghanistan.

Some 70 percent of the opium coming from Afghanistan – and funding the Taliban and al-Qaida/Iranian-linked terrorist movements in the region and as far as Kosovo and Bosnia – is produced in five Afghan provinces bordering Pakistan. These are provinces ‘controlled’ by ISAF, not by Pakistan.

It is not surprising, therefore, that some 60 to 70 percent of the Afghan Parliament is occupied by former mujahedin, ex-communists, drug barons, and warlords who prevent the establishment of the Central Government’s writ across the country. Pres. Hamid Karzai is hardly in a position to marginalize these lawmakers.

Indeed, 2008 is proving to be a pivotal year for Pres. Karzai. He has been unable to create any sustainable agriculture and employment in the country, and has been unable to create a climate of security. This situation is unlikely to improve: non-Pushtuns, and particularly the Afghan Tajik population, remain concerned that any unity within the Pushtuns would work against their interests, and consistently attempt to marginalize them. Pres. Karzai is a Pushtun.

The recent (2006-07) creation of the United National Front (UNF) party – essentially a new incarnation of the old Northern Alliance – (led by former President of Afghanistan Burhanuddin Rabbani) threatens Pres. Karzai, and he has launched a new party, the Hizb-e-Jamhuri Khwahan Afghanistan, to counter the UNF. So the instability in Afghanistan extends far beyond the issue of the resurgence of the Taliban or the presence of remnants of al-Qaida (or groups or individuals claiming allegiance to al-Qaida).

As well, the Afghan National Army (ANA) is falling behind in its recruiting, retention, and capability goals. It should have had 150,000 men on strength by 2006, but it still stands at only some 70,000 troops, and its units are not capable of undertaking independent operations.

Indeed, far from the solution being to ‘put U.S. boots on the ground’ in Pakistan, ISAF should wish for Pakistani ‘boots on the ground’ in Afghanistan, but this would only compound Pakistan’s own problems, as well as its costs in human and economic terms. Indian Consultates Supporting BLA terror. RAW sending terrorists into PakistanIt may be that the U.S. feels that Indian activities which put weapons in the hands of tribalmembers inside Pakistan keeps Pakistan on the defensive, and forces it to deal withthe problems of the tribalareas – which have remained outside the control of the central Government since the times of British occupation in the mid-19th Century until the 21st Century – but the reality is that Indian stimulation of jihadism or tribalunrest in the Pakistani Federally-Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and elsewhere merely compounds the problem in the entire region.

The Afghan Government of Hamid Karzaiis actively cooperating withthe Indian intelligence agencies through the Afghan intelligence agencies, the Ministry of the Interior, and the Ministry of Borders and Tribal Affairs (under Karim Barahowie), in launching covert activities against Pakistani areas.

Whatever the reason for Pres. Karzai’ssupport for Indian use of Afghanistan as a base of operations against Pakistan, it is clear that the U.S. Government is aware of the cooperation and the input of substantialamounts of direct and indirect weapons and financial support to the jihadist, criminal, and terrorist movements operating inside Pakistan, and yet does nothing about it. Massive quantities of munitions, much of it identified as coming from India, have been captured by Pakistani forces operating against insurgents in Swat, FATA, and Balochistan. Apart from the strong presence of Indian advisorsdominating the Afghan Government, India has established a string of consulates and intelligence posts inside Afghanistan along the border with Pakistan.

The Indian Government has created a string of “consulates” along the Afghan side of the Pakistan border, largely as intelligence collection facilities, and a large number of Indian intelligence officials were working closely with Afghan intelligence officials. This has caused the Pakistan Government some concern, given that the U.S. has facilitated the Indian intelligence build-up against Pakistan to be conducted while the Pakistan Army and Government have been working with the U.S. in the area. There is more than a little feeling in Islamabad that this has been an act of poor faith on the part of the U.S. toward Pakistan, on which the U.S. is completely reliant.

[The integration of the tribal region into Pakistan] cannot happen solely by force of arms. It involves not only ensuring the long-term ability of the Federal Government to enforce law and order, but also to introduce the priority of Pakistani nationalism ahead of tribal identity, and to ensure the introduction of the national educational curriculum, and the infrastructure required to integrate the tribal areas into the national economy.

Despite the reality that this is a long-term process, the U.S. Government has kept hinting – and privately insisting – that it should be allowed to put “boots on the ground” and intervene militarily in the complex FATAand other tribal areas of Pakistan, even though the U.S. has been unable to manage affairs inside Afghanistan, or even to prevent the Afghan unrest from spilling into Pakistan.

U.S. media reporting and U.S. officials, buying their own propaganda that the war against the Taliban is going well – a process known in the intelligence community as ‘drinking your own bathwater’ – and insisting that the problem is only that Pakistan is “not doing enough in the war on terror” have failed to understand that (a) Pakistan has committed more men and lives to the “war on terror” than the U.S., but is also suffering far more from it than the U.S., and (b) that Pakistan is using both carrot and stick to achieve long-term victory over terrorism, insurgency, and secessionist or anarchical tendencies in its border areas.

Clearly, however, as anyone who has viewed the Afghan-Pakistan border can attest, there is no possibility that neither the Pakistan Government- nor the NATO forces- could control ingress and egress across the border, the 2,560 km of the Durand Line. The terrain along the border, barren and mountainous, is not only difficult to access, but also determines the life and hardiness of the tribal populations along it.

The U.S. Government quietly wants to insert Special Forces units into these areas to pursue Taliban and/or al-Qaidaleaders, and has already violated agreements with Pakistan by launching air strikes into Pakistani territory severaltimes in 2008 alone. But if the U.S. wanted to “put boots on the ground”, it would be best served by offering to put U.S. Army Corps of Engineers capabilities into the tribal areas to help build roads, clinics, schools, and the like.

But first, however, U.S. policymakers have to decide whether they really wish to win the conflict they are fighting in Afghanistan, or merely whether they wish to find someone to blame for their failure.

The only solution to the Afghan quagmire is to eliminate the experiment called “Afghanistan”. It has only brought terror to the lives of the world for the past 5 decades. Merger of the Paktun provinces with Paksitan will resolve all issues and end GWOT with a victory.

US thinks the problem in Afghanistan is INDIA?……. from where do you get such absolute bunkum…

they are ALLIES .. EVERYTHING THAT INDIA DOES IS AMERICAN ADVISED AND FOR THE BENEFIT OF US GRAND PLAN FOR THIS REGION AS A WHOLE i.e destabilization/balkaniza… OR ELSE THEY WILL BE KICKED OUT OF AFGHANISTAN..

STUDENTS OF PSYCHOLOGY .. THIS IS THE BEST EXAMPLE YOU WILL EVER FIND OF THE TERM “REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY”…
Reverse psychology is when you tell the person to do the opposite of what you want them to do. It usually works either because the person is trying to be defiant of the other person’s wishes, or the person using reverse psychology will go so far in the opposite direction of what they want the person to do, that the person ends up defending the opposite side. For example, the racist might find themselves defending tolerance if someone suggests that we should kill off everyone who isn’t of their race. coutesy YAHOO Answers
i dont think this needs further elaboration .. REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY works best for a relatively conservative and proud nation like Pakistan because if you were to say things like WE ARE FOR BALKANIZATION OF PAKISTAN.. OR WE WANT NATO TO SUCCEED IN AFGHANISTAN OR WE WANT TO “DENUCLEARIZE” PAKISTAN.. OR “DE-ISLAMIZE” HER.. THEN OFCOURE YOU WILL BE SLAUGHTERED.. but if you say MEHSUD IS THIS OR THAT .. LIKE HE IS AMERICAN OR INDIAN FUNDED.. THEN YOU GET RESULTS .. IN AN OBVIOUS ANTI-AMERICAN AND EQUALLY ANTI-INDIAN AREA .. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR NATO OR INDIA TO INFILTRATE .. BUT IF THRU REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY SOMEHOW YOU CAN “PROGRAM” PEOPLE IN PAKISTAN THAT “THESE TRIBALS” ARE TRAITORS/SPIES OR INDIAN “FUNDED” OR ARE ANTI-CHINESE .. THEN PAKISTANIS WILL FALL INTO THEIR REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY TRAP AND WILL KILL THEIR OWN “BODY GUARDS” BEFORE THE INEVITABLE ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT..

MORE OF THE SAME REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY… MUSHARRAF’S TRAITORS AND TREASONOUS COLLABORATION WITH ZIONISTS, INDIANS, AND AMERICANS IS WELL KNOWN TO ALL..
Reverse psychology is the ability to convince another person that the first answer they have given, whilst probably the correct one, is actually the wrong answer and that the right answer is in fact the wrong answer. Hence they believe the right answer is the wrong answer and subsequently switch their answer which is the right answer to the wrong answer which is the answer youwanted them to have in the first place. (a) Pakistan has committed more men and lives to the “war on terror” than the U.S., but is also suffering far more from it than the U.S., and (b) that Pakistan is using both carrot and stick to achieve long-term victory over terrorism, insurgency, and secessionist or anarchical tendencies in its border areas.

“The Predators had been over Bajaur for days; Pakistan could see them, and CIA and ISI discuss their operations every day,” said a Pakistani analyst, who asked not to be named.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry summoned U.S. Ambassador Ryan Crocker to receive a formal protest, and the Bush administration maintained a studied silence. “It was a little like a Kabuki dance, but it probably was necessary to protect [Pakistani President Pervez] Musharraf,” Cannistraro said.

Ten days later, the United States and its ally Musharraf still face angry condemnation in Pakistan. Yesterday several thousand men demonstrated near Damadola, shouting “Death to America!” Pakistani journalists reported.

Still, “As a political issue, it has passed its peak,” said Zafar Sheikh, a Pakistani journalist who covers political and security issues. Under a government dominated by Musharraf and the army, “the opposition parties cannot offer a full challenge to the regime; they are part of it, and there is an unwritten understanding” that protest can go only so far, Sheikh said.

Amid the CIA and ISI campaign against al-Qaida, the two governments are trying to hide elements of their cooperation that anger Pakistanis, such as the permission given to the CIA to mount attacks.

“There is no transparent understanding of what is going on,” said Siddiqa, the defense analyst. “How is this supposed to work? What are the rules?”

In two similar attacks in November in Waziristan, Pakistan’s government claimed the explosions were caused by clumsy al-Qaida militants building bombs. After a Waziristan journalist, Hayatullah Khan, obtained missile fragments and photos as proof of an air attack, he was abducted by armed gunmen and remains missing.

ONE WONDERS WHY WILL SOMETHING WHICH IS SO OVERTLY PRO-PAKISTANI WILL BE ENDORSED BY AMERICAN THINKTANKS..
WHAT THIS CLEARLY MEANS IS THIS PERSON COMPLETELY FAILS TO MENTION THAT IF THIS WERE EVER TO HAPPEN THEN BALKANIZATION WILL BE A DIRECT CONSEQUENCE.. THOSE PUSHTOONS WILL GATHER TOGETHER ON THE BASIS OF RACE AND ETHNICITY.. [AND AS HISTORY TELLS US THAT THERE CAN BE NO GREATER THREAT TO HUMAN CIVILIZATION THAN NATION BUILDING ON THE BASIS OF RACE.] THEY WILL EVENTUALLY DEMAND INDEPENDENCE FROM PAKISTAN TOO..
