NEW YORK | RUPEE NEWS | July 25th, 2008 | Moin Ansari: Prime Minister Makhdoom Gilaniis going to Washington DC for his first meeting with President Bush and senior administration leaders. One doesn’t have to be a muse to figure out that the welcome speech by the American hosts. In a macabre drama the hosts will parrot the thoughts of the puppet in Afghanistan, the “Mayor of Kabul“. The sacrifices of the Pakistani soldiers will be dismissed by the perfunctory “appreciation of Pakistani efforts” and then demeaned by the “demand” to “do more”. Mr. Husain Haqqani, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the USA will repeat the American point of view and tell his former countrymen “to grow up” and “learn the realities.” As if on cue the American media will unleash a campaign to malign Pakistan and threaten to cut off aid to the ally. The American media will then be translated into European renditions of the same message which will also be echoed from Japan. There is nothing new about the American Tin ear which refuses to hear the Pakistani perspective. F-16s upgrade as lollypops during Gilani visit to USA
There is nothing new about the hubris and there is nothing new about the compliance of the Pakistani government which will again pledge to “do more“. The Gilanis and the Zardaris fail to understand that this pressure is simply a mechanism to ensure that Pakistan does not get the right arms for its Frontier Constabulary, and the amount of aid to Pakistan is kept at the “minimum wage” “slave level.” Bush & Obama both war mongers. Barack wants a different war
Mr. Zardari’s obseqious Pakistan People Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) is a shadow of its former self the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Zulfiqar’s PPP refused to comply to the demands of Henry Kissinger. Zardari’s PPPP cannot even request the White House to eliminate the bellicose blathering out of Kabul. The PPP built the Nuclear bomb. The PPPP doesn’t have a backbone to stare down the low level negotiators who routinely visit Islamabad. F-16s upgrade as lollypops during Gilani visit to USA
The US refuses to accept Pakistan’s legitimate interests in West Asia and Kabul–and continues to allow India a major role in Afghanistan. Imposing hegemony creates stress for India: Indo-Pak Farcical “peace process” . However Mr. Gilani won’t mention this. More speeches about “do more” create more Anti-Americanism all across Pakistan and make the Zardari team irrelevant as Pakistan’s leaders. Sucking the US into Pakistan–Bin Laden strategy?
If the Zardari Government in exile had any integrity, pride, dignity, or gumption the following points would be on the agenda:
0) Pakistan: Deflecting the US “Do more mantra”
1) The Indian support for the BLA which is causing some issues for Pakistan in Quetta to Kohlu. India intelligence: “‘the aim of RAW is to keep internal disturbances flaring up and the ISI preoccupied so that Pakistan can lend no worthwhile resistance to Indian designs in the region.”
2) The RAW establishment in Afghanistan–the 4 consulates, the the 13 “information centers”, the milatary base in Kabul called an “Embassy” and the 4000 Indian soldiers building “roads” in Afghansitan. India a secret player in Afghanistan: Bases—Lashkargarh, Qushila Jadid,Khahak,Hassan Killies
3) The Indian and Karzai support to suicide bombers sent across the Durand Line to Pakistan.Afghanistan audacious attack: Karzai-Kabul weaknesses exposed
4) The fate of the Pakistanis languisging in Gitmo and other CIA rendition cetners around the world.
5) Massive increase in aid to Pakistan–a Marshall plan of $150 Billion.
6) A show cause notice to the US on why the Frontier Constabulary and the Frontier Corps has not been armed with Predator drones, MARVs, IED detection jammers, a satellite for Paksitan, 200,000 M-16s, 150,000 night vision glasses. Pakhtuns to India: Get out of Afghanistan
7) An ultimatum to the “low level” US afficials to stop disparaging Pakistan. Officiels who continue to dump perjoratives on Islamabad should be declared “persona no grata” and not allowed to enter Pakistan.
8) What Mr. Gialni won’t say. The “Indian Embassy” was actually a military base run by Brigadier Mehta who routinely scolded Mr. Karzai in public. (http://rupeenews.com/2008/07/13/raws-triple-seven-plan-jolted-london-karachi-kabul/)
10) War drums in the Gulf, Hindu Kush & the Khyber Pass
11) Kabul bombing: Ruse to send Indian troops to Afghansitan?
Rice urges Pakistan to do more to end violence in Afghanistan: Friday, July 25, 2008 | CBC News
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says Pakistan needs to work harder to stop attacks into neighbouring Afghanistan from its semi-autonomous tribal areas.
Speaking to reporters in Australia on Friday, Rice suggested a surge in Taliban-related violence in Afghanistan had its source in the restive tribal areas along Pakistan’s border.
“We understand that it’s difficult, we understand that the northwest frontier area is difficult, but militants cannot be allowed to organize there and to plan there and to engage across the border,” Rice said. “So yes, more needs to be done.”
Afghan authorities have long maintained that Pakistan allows Taliban insurgents to shelter, train and re-arm in lawless areas along the border between the two countries, a charge which Pakistan rejects.
Pakistan has deployed about 80,000 troops in the rugged tribal region of North Waziristan to hunt down Taliban and al-Qaeda fighters who entered the region after the fall of the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2002.
It has resisted suggestions that U.S. or other foreign troops should be allowed into the remote region to combat the militants. Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilaniis seeking peace deals with militants through tribal elders in the northwestern regions of Pakistan.
Rice’s strong message to Islamabad comes just a few days before Gilani is scheduled to meet with U.S. President George Bush at the White House.
Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith voiced approval for Rice’s message, describing the border region as “the current international hotbed of terrorism.”
Australia has about 1,000 soldiers in Afghanistan, the largest deployment of any country outside the NATO alliance.
