Human Rights Evasions In India

Indian claims of democracy and secularism do sand scrutiny of factual events. Rather, reality goes against such claims by India . In the name of “terrorism” and “suspicion”, literally anybody could be put behind bars in the West and in countries like India today. The Muslims and others retained in jails without trial are too large and common to need illustrations. Usual contempt of law by Indian State could be seen by the way the Muslims are treated in the country after the destruction of the Mosque at Ayodhya. The Muslims, who are arrested before 6th Dec every year and tortured in jails across the country, are neither tried nor released because, according to the government, arrested persons are “terrorists” and so they deserve prolonged punishment in jails without trials, but quite scared of facing the legality of the matter involved. It is anyone’s guess as to why the governments, both at the Centre and in states, do not produce the so-called “suspected terrorists” before the courts of law and let judiciary deliver judgments. Emboldened by the on-going terror wars waged by the USA in the Arab world on the Muslims, India does not care for legality of the issue of state sponsored crime on the strength of the US support for killing or torturing the Muslims anywhere in the world. Premier Man Mohan Singh has not yet revealed the date about the Muslim detainees in the country.
Compulsorily arrests are made of Muslims on the eve of December 06. In Tamil Nadu alone, for instance, over 350 Muslims were reportedly arrested between 22nd Nov and 06 Dec 1998 as “suspected terrorists” and their fate was sealed in Coimbatore and other central jails in the state without any trial, before some of them were tired last month. The One of the detainees held in jails without any crime, Abdul Nasser Madani, a popular political leader in Kerala State who had lost his leg in a bomb blast in Kerala state way back by the anti-Islamic forces operating in the country and shielded by the State, and was later arrested by implicating him in a bomb blast case was in Coimbatore jail for over ten long years, before the governments decided to release this year.
Hypocrisy knows no shame or limits and has percolated through every section of the society and effectively controls it. No point in talking about the plight of Muslims in government as well private jobs and institutions in India . According to the Sachar Committee report the most distressing fact about the state of Muslims in India is in sharp contrast to educational and job sectors, where their share is way below their share in the population, they have a disproportionately high representation when it comes to being in prison. In many states, including Maharashtra, Gujarat and Kerala, the Muslim detainees are twice or thrice as much as their share of the population. No educated and well-placed Hindu friend thinks this as a shameful fact in a “democracy”. Yet, no one can state exactly how many Muslims have been killed in jails of “democratic” India and else where. The Muslim League, a coalition partner in the present Central government has not bothered about the securing the fast Justice to the “terrorist” Muslim detainees either and are contented with the pleasures of power sharing with the Congress Party.
Neither the Human Rights activists nor such organizations have taken up the matter seriously enough to halt the inhuman treatment meted out to the Muslims. The Prime minister and the state chief ministers, if committed to welfare of all citizens of the country, should come out with detailed reports about the of Muslims without trials held in Indian lock-ups as well as the general position of the Muslim detainees in the country in general. The mysterious death of a former Russian intelligence officer Alexander Litvinenko abroad and the killing of a Russian journalist Politkovkaya in Russia have caught the attention of the Western media mainly because the victim was a pro-West person and not a Muslim. Muslims are also killed and tortured by the US led forces worldwide but the global media refuse to highlight the facts as they have done it in Russia’s case, for Russia is criticized for its lack of democratic traditions.
Indian Terrorism and Genocide in Kashmir
Human rights record of India is known to be very low and the media efficiently hide the facts of torture if the victims are Muslims. The JK government has also instituted awards and would provide monetary benefits to the outstanding and deserving policemen who mercilessly kill the Kashmiris, whether they are civilians or patriots struggling for their sovereignty form terrorist India . The killing of Kashmiri patriots, the so-called “terrorists” for India, by the security forces has gone up this year, while those of civilians has come down by over 50 per cent in Jammu and Kashmir bettering the overall security situation in the state. Close on the heels of US revelation about the deaths of American sponsored terrorists in Iraq recently, India has also come out with its shabby account of genocide in Kashmir under Indian continued occupation and destructive operations. India did made this disclosure without explicitly revealing the total amount of Indian genocide in Kashmir . “There is also fall in the overall militancy graph of the state as against 177 militancy-related incidents last year, only 119 such incidents took place the state-sponsored terrorist counter insurgency operations this year,” the report said.
India is beating about the bush very skillfully without telling the whole truth about its nefarious activities in the heavily militarized Kashmir dealing the Kashmiris virtually under siege and many of them are under their custody. Recent discovery of secret graveyards and other accounts reveal that Indian error forces have killed lakhs of defenseless Kashmiris and their property worth billions of dollars has been destroyed. One wonders what would happen to India if the authorities straight-forwardly announce the total number of murders of Kashmiris by the Indian state-sponsored terrorist activities. When they can mass-murder the innocent Kashmiri patriots, they could as well reveal the truth about the details operations so that public also has a view about the ghastly policy of the India and the nefarious activities of its forces occupying Kashmir shamelessly.
The timing of India disclosure of some facts about the genocide in Kashmir when USA also did almost same stating only the American causalities in Iraq gives rise to fresh hopes among the Kashmiri patriots about a possible vacation of India from Kashmir when USA pulls out itself from Iraq letting the Iraqis have their sovereignty back. Hopefully so! Meanwhile India should reveal its own account of about how many Kashmiris it managed to kill and displace physically in Kashmir alone since its annexation of Kashmir in 1947.
State Terrorism in India : Muslims in Jails
Every nation, including the most oppressive one, has instituted Human Rights Commissions with their own agents as their members and chiefs because UN and other world bodies insist that such forums are mandatory for every sovereign nation. But all the Human Rights (HR) commissions operate within the parameters set for them by the ruling dispensation and the Commissions subscribe to the dictates of the government chiefly because it appoints the members-cum-chief and every body in it seeks special favors in return for “services” rendered, privileges and depend too much on the government for the future appointment, upward movement in career, etc.
India unleashes terror on Muslims. At present the main target of the state agencies remains Muslims and this has complicated the HR evasions further and HR forums just watch the show like any other branch of the society with work for them to do. More over, the “specialists” on Human rights bodies are grateful to the government for choosing them for doing nothing when there are better known “specialists” available in the market more suited for the job. This in fact makes a mockery of Human rights watchdogs charged with protecting the lives and dignity of every single human being in the country and report dutifully to the concerned authority for suitable punitive measures to curb Human rights evasions from state and non-state sections and super individuals or gangs.
In the absent of any proper code of conduct with heavy human responsibilities by the HR watchdogs, the human rights record is weak every where, to state the least. The worst of Human Rights violations take place in jails where the detainees are tortured more cruelly. They inmates” of the jails have no outlets to pronounce their problems and the criminality and brutality they are subjected to in jails even of the so-called “largest democracy” of the world, terrorist India. The loyal media, as usual, shut their eyes conveniently.
The basically anti-Islamic media in India also dutifully flash out the “news” that are clearly concocted to suit the government’s anti-Muslim policy supported by some nasty photographs taken from ankles that give the person arrested look like a film villain, or computerized Osama Laden. Many media “patriots” live just on this job of falsifying the facts and projecting Muslims as “terrorists”. When Muslim employees or party workers 4 in various parties don’t openly support the anti-Islamic propaganda mechanisms, they are coerced to quit the job or post in parties. And when this is case in the democratic forums, one can imagine the kind of “democracy’ prevailing in closed jails where Muslims are locked up only to appease the Hindu fundamentalists.
Indian jails are known for their “democratic” criminality and ruthlessness. With Muslims the situation could even be murderous. Several thousand Muslims are locked up in various jails of India and their crime is not established even through courts. But Tihar jail in Delhi is notorious for its treatment of “inmates” of jail undergoing harshest possible punishment either convicted by a court or even without any trail. Though the jail in the capital and in the mainland of the city territory. Many political prisoners spent their part f life in Tihar, including former premier Indira Gandhi for excesses during the infamous Emergency. The treatment meted out to general category of prisoners varies from case o case and from religion to religion. Currently a great sum o prisons undergoing nasty punishment are the so-called “Muslim terrorists”. One can very well imagine the plight in jails of this category of ” bad guys’ as certified by the governments and media in secular India .
Fate of Kashmiris
India annexed Kashmir valley in 1947 very tactfully immediately after it got independence form Great Britain and through a systematic process of militarization of the valley India has made Kashmir a dangerous place and kill the freedom fighting Kashmiris in large numbers. Kashmiris, who are now branded as “terrorists” by New Delhi , are being tracked every where both in Kashmir and India , by the state-sponsored terrorist gangs with Indian license. After nabbing and torturing Kashmiri patriots, the police or military authorities just say that they have dutifully caught some “Kashmiri terrorists” who want to destroy non-terrorist India .
There are both subtle forms of humiliation and harassment and adverse forms like arrests and torture. Many human rights activists, representing UN on freedom of religion and belief in India, has noted that there is a confirmed bias amongst security forces against Kashmiris, acknowledging discrimination against them outside Jammu and Kashmir . She has also pointed out that a number of them have been arrested on the ill-founded suspicions of terrorism.
Kashmiris are ill-treated much worse in Tihar and other jails. Recently, a rare reporting appeared in one newspaper about how Police misuse Muslims. A Muslim, worked as an informant of Delhi police about Muslims and did all sorts of “pubic services” projecting Muslims in bad manners and transporting “materials” from place to place as per instructions from the police, was trapped by the police themselves and is now in Tihar jail. Punishment without crime!. Initially he thought it was a routine matter and he was promised to bail out “soon”. But he was made to suffer for more than a year, without knowing why the police put him there. He wrote a pathetic letter to Manmohan Singh to “help” him come out, but nothing is known about his fate now.
Protest demonstrations by students were conducted in Srinagar, in the face of shocking revelations made by a few Kashmiris, arrested from militarized Kashmir, incarcerated in Delhi’s Tihar jail since the last over two and a half years. Mohammad Rafiq Shah, who was arrested in Srinagar in October 2005 in connection with the Delhi serial blasts case more than two years ago was a student of the Kashmir University’s Islamic Studies Department, has written a letter from Tihar Jail, alleging that he was physically and sexually abused inside prison and was being subjected to worst kind of torture. The detailed account of his alleged harrowing experience in Tihar reveals how perverts in authority inside jails can make prison experience for some inmates miserable.
Already, there are widespread allegations of how Kashmiris are ill-treated in various jails both in and outside the state of Jammu and Kashmir . Acquitted from “Tihar punishment” for his ignorance in the parliament blast case, Prof Shah AR Geelani, had also pointed out how Kashmiris are singled out in the Tihar jail– the highly fortified prison– and subjected to worse kinds of torture, despite the tall claims of several prison reforms having been undertaken here. In Shah’s case, his family members have been pleading since his arrest that he was not connected with the bomb blasts in any way. Obviously, the plight of the other jails is much worse. This only adds to the gravity of the situation that in most of the cases the Kashmiri youth picked up and put behind bars for uncertain number of years, with or without trial, are claimed to be innocent.
There has been number of other arrests that take place, in and outside the state, without the slightest of pretext. Muslims could be picked up in India and Kashmir just like that and brand them as terrorists. Recently one Kashmiri Altaf, working in Kerala and supporting his family, was arrested on fictitious charges, jailed for over a month and the public prosecutor argued not to release him saying that would incite “terrorism” in Kerala. He was released innocent after over a month’s torture in prison. (Has he come back to Kashmir ?) It has become the wont of the official investigating agencies to create an accused when they are unable to find the real culprits, thanks to the political pressures, necessitated by misplaced vote bank politics. Even the government of Jammu and Kashmir has taken up the issue of harassment of Kashmiri youth with the Centre and several other states in the country.
While patriotic Kashmiris struggle to get back their sovereignty from the invader and occupier, India, the pro-India Kashmiri elements would not let India suffer its prestige and Indian media always some-how mange the public opinion in favor of Indian actions every where especially in relation to Muslims both in India and Kashmir. Human Right agencies just play par of governmental politics. Judiciary does exactly what the government agencies tell them.

Interesting…..to read the views of a professor from Jawahar Lal university. It seems that India is filled with TRAITORS, 1st we need to eliminate these people as due to their actions, our whole community suffers. I think elimination process can be started with writer of this article as this person seems to be sponsered by ISI. This writer is great threat to muslim community as well to nation as he is only spreading poison in the society.
