Bollywoods gloss can hide the holes for only so many seconds. The puss oozing out the heart of the hardships is now available for all to see. The Dalits, the Muslims, the Shudras and the women of India have taken the brunt of the gore and exploitation.

Is India a failed state?
In a sea of affluence spreading from Luxemburg to Sydney south Asia is the only island of penury—kept down by India,  that is a heavy millstone for South Asia. Unlike China India has been unable to pull herself from the bootstraps and provide decent living, food and shelter to her citizens. Marketing alone cannot gloss over the poverty stricken population of India. Bollywood may be able to hide the Indian slums by filming in Kuala Lumpur but Bollywood cannot hide the dilapidated infrastructure of India cities. By all counts, India is a failed state.

INTERNAL “INDIAN” CAVITIES: The Naxalites have a force of approximately 15,000 cadres spread across 160 districts in the states of Orissa, Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Karnataka and West Bengal. They operate primarily in the lawless, dense forested areas of India’s interior, with some estimates saying Naxalites control approximately 10.03 million hectares (about 25 million acres) of forests nationwide. They also have an active campaign to recruit students and other youths to help spread their left-wing extremism into India’s towns and cities. Thus far, however, the Naxalites have not demonstrated the ability to operate in urban areas.

A US state department report has put India at the top of the list of countries worst afflicted by terrorism. It says that India had more than 2,300 terrorism-related deaths in 2007 – about 10% of a worldwide figure of 22,000 terrorism-related deaths that year. That is an astonishing number considering many of those 22,000 worldwide deaths occurred in Iraq and Afghanistan where wars are being fought.

The US report also questioned India’s “outdated and out burdened law enforcement and legal systems”.
“Until we modernise our intelligence gathering and hold it publicly accountable, we cannot win the fight against terrorism,” says Amigo Samantha, a former Intelligence Bureau joint director and retired chief of police intelligence in West Bengal state.BBC

Who is behind the India bombings?

The bombs went off near historic monuments in the crowded old city on Tuesday evening. The head of state police said it was a terrorist attack. Police have detained a number of people for questioning. Jaipur, in Rajasthan, is a popular tourist destination about 260km (160 miles) from the Indian capital, Delhi. No group has admitted planting bombs in Jaipur. It is not yet clear what the motive for attacking the city might be.

Most people in Jaipur are Hindus but the city has a large Muslim minority. Correspondents say it has no history of religious violence. There have been sporadic bomb attacks around India in recent years. The police have had little success in bringing prosecutions.

We are suprised it took this long for the Indians to blame Pakistan

A leaf falls in India and Pakistan is blamed for it. It has taken the efficient Indians a few minutes to completely figure out the Jaipur bombings. In a country where chaos reigns, and the writ of the government does not extend to the borders in the Northeast and in lawless Naxalite belt from Nepal to Andhra Pradesh, the governemnt civil servants in nano seconds figured out the trail of terror. So in one stroke they blamed everyone, specially the ISI–the favorite whipping boy of the Indians who refuse to recognize the endemic issues faced by a majority of Indian. They also balmed the Pakistanis, the Bangaldeshis the Indian Muslims, the Kashmiris and a “foreign hand” in case they left out anyone.

More than 400 people have been killed in a string of serial bombings across India since October 2005, with Jaipur the latest city attacked.
“The masterminds were Bangladesh nationals, members of groups like Huji, the explosives were procured in Bangladesh and smuggled across the border and Jaipur may not be an exception to that,” says Bibhuti Bhusan Nandy.“The Huji and the Lashkars have scores of sleeper cells all over India ready to strike on direction from outside.”

The government of Bangladesh says it is working to curb the activities of Huji. It banned the group in October 2005 and its leader is currently in prison.BBC

Little attention is paid to the real problems in the congolmeration of states, a subcontinent of nationalities that was cobbled together by Nehru and Patel. They tried to make a nation out of it and have failed miserable. Is India a failed state? Yes. India is still not a state.

There are more than 450 million people who are out there totally ostercized by society and triaged into the slums of makor cities. How long to end poverty in “Bharat” It would take three centuries or more than 300 years to extirpate penury in India.

The horrible neglect of millions not shown on the Bollywood silver screen

The amount of poverty in India more than Sub Sharan Africa both in volume as well as in depth. The people are some of the poorest in the world.

All these factos lead up to a high level of dicontent. No amount of IT can solve the problems of the rural Indians. The $50 Billion in IT exports only touches 6 million Indians. This is great PR for the country, but in real terms it has affected only some of the major cities.

Second, the Northeast if not addressed appropriately could unhook from the Union before the Valley given the acute vulnerability of the Siliguri Corridor, which is merely 10 to 20 kilometer wide and 200 kilometers long. If this critical corridor is choked or subverted or severed by force, the Union of India will have to maintain the Northeast by air. With poor quality of governance for which the country is infamous, the local population may gravitate towards other regional powers. There are three or four major regions that could be reposnsible for the Jaipur bombs.

More than 89 insurgencies rage in India

Danger-1: New Delhi and the state capitals have almost ceded the governmental control over 40 percent of the Union’s territory to the Naxalites. The Naxals’ are aided and abetted by the crime mafia that runs its operations in the same corridor from Nepal to Andhra Pradesh, as well as Maoists of Nepal who in turn receive covert support from other powers engaged/ interested in destabilizing India. The nexus between ULFA and Maoists in Nepal is well established. In a recent attack in Chhattisgarh, Maoists of India and Nepal were co-participants. There are also reports to suggest that Indian Maoists are increasingly taking to opium cultivation in areas under their control to finance their activities. The Maoists – crime – drug nexus is rather explosive.

NAXALITE INSURRECTION:  The real failed state is “India” with it’s penury stricken and poverty enveloped palliating millions sleeping on the sidewalks of its major cities. Bollywood can hide the Indian indigence with a song and dance in Paris, Singapore or Dubai but it cannot fill the hunger of the millions of starving Indian bellies in more than 1000 districts which is under the control of the Naxalites. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naxalite

Hindustan will be divided. Kashmir will become Pakistan

Danger-2: The security forces, primarily the Indian Army, have held the state of Jammu and Kashmir physically since Independence. The politicians and the bureaucrats have contributed nothing to resolve the situation. The danger has since magnified many times as displayed by the presence of thousands of supporters of LET flying their flags in a recent rally of dissidents.

It’s not just the Islamic jihadis but also separatists like the United Liberation Front of Assam (Ulf) and Maoist rebels in India who use serial bombings on a regular basis. BBC

Naxalites and Seven Sisters of the Northeast

Danger-3: Given a modicum of political will, Danger-I and II may still be manageable, however, Danger III to its territorial integrity in the Northeast may prove to be the most difficult. In fact the entire Northeast can easily be unhooked on multiple counts from the Union. First, these are low populated areas having contiguity with the most densely populated and demographically aggressive country in the world, i.e., Bangladesh. The country has also emerged as a major source of Islamic fundamentalism which impacts grievously on the Northeast. To add to these woes, New Delhi because of sheer vote-bank politics legitimized illegal migration for 22 years through the vehicle of IMDT. Many border districts now have a majority population constituting illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. In near future, this leverage will be used to create an internal upheaval against the Centre as in the case of the Valley. It’s a classic Islamic fundamentalist principle of asymmetric warfare. What cannot be achieved by conventional wars, can be done through infiltration and subsequently internal subversion

Danger-4: Home grown discontent

A population as large as the United States lives in conditions that are below and worse off than that of Sub Saharan Africa. The dalit websites shed some light on the plight of the Dalits.

dalits-in-india-4.jpg“In the Indian caste system, a Dalit, often called an untouchable, or an outcaste, is a person who according to traditional Hindu belief does not have any “varnas“. Varna refers to the Hindu belief that most humans were supposedly created from different parts of the body of the divinity Purusha. The part from which a varna was supposedly created defines a person’s social status with regard to issues such as whom they may marry and which professions they may hold.[1]Dalits fall outside the varnas system and have historically been prevented from doing any but the most menial jobs.[1] (However, a distinction must be made between lower-caste people and Pariahs.) Included are leather-workers (called chamar), carcass handlers (called mahar),poor farmers and landless laborers, night soil scavengers (called bhangior chura), street handicrafters, folk artists, street cleaners, dhobi, etc. Traditionally, they were treated as pariahs in South Asiansociety and isolated in their own communities, to the point that even their shadows were avoided by the upper castes. Discrimination against Dalits still exists in rural areas in the private sphere, in ritual matters such as access to eating places and water sources. It has largely disappeared, however, in urban areas and in the public sphere, in rights of movement and access to schools[2]. The earliest rejection of discrimination, at least in spiritual matters, was made as far back as the Bhagavada Gita, which says that no person, no matter what, is barred from enlightenment. Even early Indian texts such as the Rig Veda discourage the abuse of outcastes. The text reads, “Indra, you lifted up the outcast who was oppressed, you have glorified the blind and the lame.” (Rg-Veda 2:13:12)[3]There are an estimated 160 million Dalits in India.[4] Wikipedia

They have thrived on Muslim alienation in India since the phenomenal rise of the Hindu right in the country in the mid-1980s,” says Pradip Bose of the Calcutta-based Center for Study in Social Sciences (CSSS).

He says it all started with the demolition of the Babri Mosque in Ayodhya in December 1992 and has been fuelled by large-scale violence against Muslims, such as in the Gujarat riots in 2002.

“A riot like Gujarat creates a few thousand potential jihadis seeking revenge, so there’s no use blaming the foreign hand. We in this country have created this problem,” says Mr Bose, a distinguished sociologist.

The BBC reports:

After Tuesday’s serial explosions in Jaipur, India has again blamed “the foreign hand” – perhaps a euphemism for Pakistan.

“This is time-tested Isi tactics,” says Maj Gen Gaganjit Singh, a former deputy chief of India’s Defence Intelligence Agency (Dia).

Indian officials say that the Isi now operates more through Nepal and Bangladesh, where they have developed a secure network of operatives who liaise with militant groups such as Lashkar-e-Toiba or the Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami.

“A good number of terrorists, reportedly with Pakistani intelligence support, found Bangladesh as a safe haven. The collective strength of terrorist groups like Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami, is now estimated in several thousands. India is their principal target,” says a former chief of the Intelligence Bureau, Ajit Doval.

Indian intelligence says in recent months, most major explosions have been traced back to Bangladesh.
