"India" Balkanizing? Naxalite insurrection widening Cracks in deep cavities

The South Asia Subcontinent is sometimes incorrectly called \

‘India is no more a country than the Equator’ . Winston Churchill

“We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.” Plato

Cracks are showing in Bharat today!
Balkanizing Cracks in “India”: Naxalite insurrection shows severe cavities in India. Why is the press silent about the rebellion in 100 districts of India?–this constitutes about 40% of the country. The swathe of land from Nepal all the way down to Andhara Pradesh is in rebel control. The seven sisters in the Norheast are almost totally out of control of the center which does not seriously challenge the writ of the local leaders.

India is like a millstone on South Asia. It has kept all of South Asia in poverty. Now it is beset with humongous problems–the harvest of sowing seeds of destruction in her neighbors. When the tide rises all boats float up. When the tide sinks all boats go down. India is a dead weight on South Asia. In the process all of South Asia is doomed to another century of penury and poverty.

  • About 370 BC, Plato wrote: “A democracy is a state in which the poor, gaining the upper hand, kill some and banish others, and then divide the offices among the remaining citizens equally.”

The central government is weak, corrupt, ineffective and impotent. Kashmir is on fire, as is Assaam and Bihar. 250 million Dalits do not feel “Indian”. The 150 million Muslims have been so mistreated that they are in abject generational penury. It will take more than 3 centuries to pull the poverty stricken out of destitute living. The media focuses on “Incredible India”, a figment of the imagination of the West.

India is behaving a like a pumped up balloon Michelin mascot; pumped by the Americans who need crutches to needle China; pumped up by the British who cannot fight the good war in Afghanistan and expect India to clean up the mess that they have made.

The Voltaires of India are quiet, too scared to question the carnage. The mighty Indian media controlled by corporatism has become more obsequious than Pravda or Izvestia. Icons of the press freedom like Tehilka cannot survive amid the tough commercial environment. Bigotry sells.

Is India is a failed state? The maps show the more than 89 insurgencies that are raging in India
The British Empire does not even show half of PakistanThe British Indian Empire included India, Iraq, Burma etcThe hundreds of states in the Subcontinent in the middle of the 19th centuryThe congomleration of statesGiven a modicum of political will, Danger-I and II may still be manageable, however, Danger III to its territorial integrity in the Northeast may prove to be the most difficult. In fact the entire Northeast can easily be unhooked on multiple counts from the Union. First, these are low populated areas having contiguity with the most densely populated and demographically aggressive country in the world, i.e., Bangladesh. The country has also emerged as a major source of Islamic fundamentalism which impacts grievously on the Northeast. To add to these woes, New Delhi because of sheer vote-bank politics legitimized illegal migration for 22 years through the vehicle of IMDT. Many border districts now have a majority population constituting illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. In near future, this leverage will be used to create an internal upheaval against the Centre as in the case of the Valley. It’s a classic Islamic fundamentalist principle of asymmetric warfare. What cannot be achieved by conventional wars, can be done through infiltration and subsequently internal subversionSecond, the Northeast if not addressed appropriately could unhook from the Union before the Valley given the acute vulnerability of the Siliguri Corridor, which is merely 10 to 20 kilometer wide and 200 kilometers long. If this critical corridor is choked or subverted or severed by force, the Union of India will have to maintain the Northeast by air. With poor quality of governance for which the country is infamous, the local population may gravitate towards other regional powers. These are the most serious cracks identified by the security agencies of Bharat.

ChattirgarhThe state of Chhattisgarh has an area of 1,35,191 sq. km. and a population of 20.83 million. There are 16 districts, 146 blocks, and 20179 villages. The State has population density of 154 per sq. km. (as against the national average of 324). The decadal growth rate of the state is 18.27% (against 21.54% for the country) and the population of the state is growing at a slower rate than the national rate..Chhattisgarh is one of the few landlocked states of the country. Uttar Pradesh and Bihar bind the State in north, in the east it is bound by Orissa, in the south by Andhra Pradesh and in the west by Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. A large part of the state comes under Vindhyachal range that divides the Subcontinent into two. Mahanadi and Narmada are the principal rivers of the state. Narmada has its origin in Amarkantak, which lies in Chhattisgarh.Chattirgarh want to be by itself.

PakistanThis is the Pakistan that was demanded.

These are imperial British maps of the Subcontinent during different time periods. Notice that “India was very different, based on the era or time. French “India” included Vietnam, Cambodia and Loas. Dutch “India” included Indonesia, Danish “India” was different than British “India.”

Throughout history, the struggle for the independence of the Subcontinent has been struggle against centralism and the struggle has been waged to create for provincial autonomy. The Government of India Act of 1919 set out in clear terms the subjects which were to belong to the provincial sphere and those to the Central sphere. But both the Congress and the Muslim League boycotted the elections to the provincial and Central Legislatures held in November 1920 under the Act, because they felt that the Central vernment had still retained too much of power over the provinces. This map of 1853 “India” does not show half of Pakistan. The British Indian Empire, informally, the British Raj (r?j, lit. “rule” in Hindi) or simply British India, internationally and contemporaneously, India, was the term used synonymously for the region, the rule, and the period, from 1858 to 1947, of the British British Empire on the Indian subcontinent. The region included areas of British India directly administered by the United Kingdom (contemporaneously, “British India”) as well as the princely states ruled by individual rulers under the paramountcy of the British Crown. The princely states, which had all entered into treaty arrangements with the British Crown, were allowed a degree of local autonomy in exchange for protection and representation in international affairs by Great Britain.

The British Indian Empire included the regions of present-day India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, and, in addition, at various times, Aden (from 1839 to 1937), Lower Burma (from 1852) and Upper Burma (from 1886) until 1937, British Somaliland (briefly from 1884 to 1898), andthe Straits Settlements (briefly from 1819 to 1867). The British Indian Empire had some ties with British possessions in the Middle East; the Indian rupee served as the currency in many parts of that region. What is now Iraq was, immediately after World War I, administered by the India Office of the British government. The British Indian Empire is said to have begun in May 1858 when the British exiled Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar II to Rangoon in then independent Konbaung Burma after executing most of his family, thus formally liquidating the Mughal Empire. At the same time, the British abolished the British East India Company andreplaced it with direct rule under the British Crown. In proclaiming the new direct-rule policy to “the Princes, Chiefs, and Peoples of India”..

The Viceroy of India announced in 1858 that the government would honour former treaties with princely states and renounced the “Doctrine of Lapse”, whereby the East India Company had annexed territories of rulers who died without male heirs. About 40 percent of Indian territory and 20-25 percent of the population remained under the control of 562 princes

In August 1858 the British Parliament abolished the English East India Company and transferred the company’s responsibilities to the British crown. This launched a period of direct rule in India, ending the fiction of company rule as an agent of the Mughal emperor (who was tried for treason and exiled to Burma). In November 1858, in her proclamation to the “Princes, Chiefs, and Peoples of India,” Queen Victoria pledged to preserve the rule of Indian princes in return for loyalty to the crown. More than 560 such enclaves, taking in one-fourth of India’s area andone-fifth of its people, were preserved until Indian independence in 1947.

India started out as more than 500 states.

Given a modicum of political will, Danger-I and II may still be manageable, however, Danger III to its territorial integrity in the Northeast may prove to be the most difficult. In a sea of affluence spreading from Luxemburg toSydney (with a few aberrations), Indiais the island of penury that is a millstone for South Asia. Unlike China India has been unable to pull herself from the bootstraps and provide decent living, food and shelter to her citizens. Marketing alone cannot gloss over the poverty striken population of India. Bollywood may be able to hide the Indian slums by filming in Kuala Lumpur but Bollywood cannot hide the dilapidated infrastructure of India cities. By all counts, India is a failed state. India as a world power? Part 1

Insurrection

INTERNAL “INDIAN” CAVATIES: The Naxalites have a force of approximately 15,000 cadres spread across 160 districts in the states of Orissa, Chattisgarh, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, KarnatakaandWest Bengal. They operate primarily in the lawless, dense forested areas of India’s interior, with some estimates saying Naxalitescontrol approximately 10.03 million hectares (about 25 million acres) of forests nationwide. They also have an active campaign to recruit students and other youths to help spread their left-wing extremism into India’s towns and cities. Thus far, however, the Naxalites have not demonstrated the ability to operate in urban areas.

India Balkanizing? Naxalite insurrection widening cracks in deep cavaties

The 2nd world revolution (after Buddhism) from Nepal: Another threat to India

FAILED STATE MANTRA: Indiahas had wars with all her neighbors. By harping on the “failed state” mantra the bigoted Indian commentariat wants to surround “Akhand Bharat” with small Balkanized mini-states like Sikkim, Bhutan, Sri Lanka. Any hegemonouspower achieves its goal in the region by sabotaging the integrity and sovereignty of the neighbors. Indiawants to surrounditself with a “Warsaw pact” type of string of obsequies and subservient states. Pakistan is big hurdle in India’s hegemonistic policy of Westward expansion. Since the West never faced “India” in combat, they are unaware of the (South) Indian aggression that was encountered by Southeast Asia (Laos, Cambodia, and even Indonesia). China and Pakistan working together have arrested the advance of the sepoys of Delhi.

Here is some historical evidence of imperialism of the past. The years of ANODOMINI saw the beginning of Hindu imperialism outside India. Just like the Ferocious Aryans destroyed the IVC, these Hindu invaders destroyed the 2500 year old civilization of the Malay peninsula and imposed a foreign culture upon the peace loving people of the far east. Local temples were destroyed, people were enslaved, and the local language was abolished.

Being polite, Jawahalal Nehru in the understatement of the century writes in his book Glimpses of World History says:

”These colonizing excursions started in the first century after Christ and they continued for a hundred years. All over Malay and Java and Sumatra and Cambodia and Borneo they went, and established andtook Indian culture with them…..In Burma and Siam and Indo-China there were large Indian colonies. Many times even of the names they gave to their new towns and settlements were borrowed from India-Ayodhia, Hastinapur, Taxila, Gandhara…No doubt Indian colonialists misbehaved wherever they went, as all such colonialists do. They must have exploited the people islands and lorded it over them….Hindu States and empires were established in these eastern islands, and then Buddhist rulers came, and between the Hindu and the Buddhist there was a tussle for mastery. During this time Fa-hien visited India to study Buddhism (399 AD) and found “gaya wa waste and desolate”. He gives a detailed account of Buddhist persecution by the Brahman Aryans.

PENURY STRICKEN INDIA HAS FAILED TO PROVIDE HER CITIZENS A DECENT LIVING:

How poor is India?

Some startling statistics have just been released by a forgotten wing of Dr Singh’sown administration, the National Commission for Enterprises in the Unorganised Sector. Around 80 per cent of India’s working population is in this sector. Nearly 80 per cent of this group earns less than 20 rupees a day and 85 per cent of this sub group is trapped in debt. By that usual sleight of hand we have drawn an arbitrary line to define poverty: Rs 12 a day constitutes the poverty line. This encourages the illusion that 77 per cent of India is now above the poverty line. It isn’t that much above in any case. Nor is this poverty line index-linked to inflation. Twelve rupees a day buys much less today than it did three years ago. The traditional poverty groups remain where they were: 88 per cent of Scheduled Tribes and Castes, 80 per cent of “Other Backward Classes” and 85 per cent of Muslims belong to the “poor and vulnerable” class. Hunger in India alarming! India at bottom on Hunger Index in South Asia. M. J. Akbar is Editor-in-Chief of the Asian Age and Deccan Chronicle newspapers. He can be reached at mjakbar@asianage.com

How long to end poverty in “Bharat”? 3 Centuries! India’s faltering $41 Billion IT economy cannot salvage the lot of the poor. While a triumphalist media discusses the “growth of the Indian middle class”, the reality of India’s penury stricken population is very different. The higher the number the worse off the country. India ranks below Cambodia and Burkino Faso in terms of hunger. It is slightly better off that Haiti, Zimbabwe  and Bangladesh. Pakistan’s fares much better and is not listed on this chart. Cuba has taken care of its population and eliminated malnutrition, hunger andchild mortality. It has done more with less and is the example that needs to be followed. Cuba produces more doctors for less and offers free medical education to citizens of the world. 1000 Cuban doctors served in cold Azad Kashmir and helped the victims of the earthquake.

  • India scored worse than nearly 25 sub-Saharan African countries and all of South Asia, except Bangladesh,” the report says.
  • When Indian states are compared to countries in the Global Hunger Index, [the central Indian state of] Madhya Pradesh ranks between Ethiopia and Chad,” it says.
  • India is long known to have some of the highest rates of child malnutrition and mortality in under-fives in the world.
  • According to the Indian government statistics two years ago, around 60% of more than 10 million children in the state were malnourished (International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) along with Welthungerhlife and the University of California)

POOR MUSLIMS THIRD RATE CITIZENS: Muslims constitute 25.2 per cent of the population of West Bengal, but have only 2.1 per cent of state government jobs. Kerala, which has almost the same percentage of Muslims (24.7 per cent), has given 10.4 per cent of state government jobs to the community. Assam’s ratio is similar: 30.9 per cent and 11.2 per cent. Bihar does better: it gives 7.6 per cent of state jobs to Muslims, who add up to 16.5 per cent of the population. Andhra Pradesh has the best record: 9.2 per cent of the population and 8.8 per cent of jobs. Uttar Pradesh, despite leaders who claim to be more-secular-than-thou has given only 5.1 per cent of state government jobs to an 18.5 per cent population. The situation is no better when it comes to health and education indices.

THE MAOISTS: The North East India comprises of the seven sister states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura. They form part of the East Himalayan region which extends from Sikkim eastwards and embraces the Darjeeling Hills of West Bengal. This swate of land is up in arms. Maoists vs Bhutan: Nepalese winning

THE IT BOOM: The IT boom affects about 6 million Indians and is only $41 Billion. The rest are schackled as indentured servants, caste prisons, or communal restrictions.

KASHMIR: Kashmir wants her liberation from India and will continue here struggle.

IMPEDIMENTS TO INDIA AS GLOBAL POWER: Unless there is a drastic change in India thinking and policies, there is not a snowballs chance in hell of this happening. One day Indiawill findout that a tango with Uncle Sam may result in the total Balkanization of the country back to pre-British times when there were more than 500 states.

One of the sources of the information listed above is “Glimpes of World History” by Mr. Jawahar Lal Nehru who goes into much detail about the agression of South Indian States to the South East.

Buddhism was destroyed in many of the South East Asian counties and Hinduism still survives in Bali of Indinesia.

We have written extensively about this. Perhaps it is time to republish some of this information which is publicly available.

Hindusatan can only survive if it learns to live peacefully and respectfully with its minorities.Unfortunately Hindus cannot simply admit the fact that India is shrinking at lightening speed.Creation of Pakistan and Bangladesh was a chain reaction which hasn’t stoped yet.Still 150 million muslims living and multiplying in India who sooner or later will demand for a seperate homeland due to the attrocities of Hindu extremists.

  8. FM Shah says:

Whenever so called scholars/academics/experts (Raised/Funded by US/West) discuss any evil/wrong in our Muslim societies on Media especially TV, they never try to exactly locate the center of gravity of that issue. Their reasoning, and intended solutions are shallow and mostly in mars/space because they always try to avoid the context and history of the issue.
What is unfolding now in whole Muslim World and especially Pakistan, is somewhat ‘creative chaos’ in almost all walk of life. If you have monopoly over world resources (Oil, Drugs, Technology, Banks, Media etc) , superiority in intelligence and multiple means of buying out loyalties of the readily saleable commodities (Karzai, Yasir Arrafat, Mahmood Abbas, Musharaf, Saudis, Benaizer, Nawaz, Zardari, Local Journalist, Generals, Bureaucrats, Businessmen etc.) like the US/West does, then the fog of chaos is a good way of confusing the enemy and continuing exploitation/deprivation by de-facto colonization even after so called freedom. One of the main reason for Muslim failure during last several decades in almost all fields is the result of well planned disorientation campaign. Multiple channels are used varying from brute force of carpet bombing/armed invasions to dubious soft tool like human rights, media, trade, MNCs, NGOs, globalization, academic dialogue and last of War on terror. However the only objective is to curtail Islam, whip Muslims and thrash them depending upon the situation and environment.
We will take a common day example of the curse of Heroin. As it is normally believed that Herion like Terrorism popped out of blue from Pakistan Tribal Areas/Afghanistan. It is generally believed that simple tribal men and war lords are only responsible for menace of Heroin but never told the link between Afghan War, CIA, Heroin, BCCI and finance for US Stringers made by private MNCs.
Heroin is prepared from morphine (extracted from opium) by boiling it with acetic anhydride, and then using a process that involves hydrochloric acid, strychnine, and caffeine. The most essential chemical for Heroin (i.e. acetic anhydride) is produced only in West, No Muslim country has any plant for producing acetic anhydride. Recently its import to Afghanistan through Karachi Afghan transit route under flag of NATO/US since 9/11 has increased exponentially. MNCs producing all such chemicals are making billions.
Heroin was basically invented by BAYER Pharmaceutical/Agro MNCs. It is also operating in many countries like Pakistan and making Billions. CIA introduced Heroin in South America, Vietnam and Last of all Afghanistan/Pakistan. Hereon and present drug economy is very similar to Colonial era Opium trade of that era.

Similarly all the business families (Mostly present ruling establishment in Indo/Pak/Bangla Desh) are those who acted as middle men for opium export to China. Most of them control II Chundrigar Road, Karachi/Bombay Stock exchange and Power Houses in IndoPak. Those past collaborators/supporters of past colonials and present day ruling elites will always pray anthems of US/West. Any voice or force raising against US/West is curbed with Iron hand, it may be Lawyers Movement or Red Mosques or Tribal Areas or Rag Tag Taliban. Please see the interview of Indian Writer Amitav Gosh on BBC (23 June, 2008) about opium wars of 1830s and 1850s and opium production in Bengal/Bombay by East India Company.

This is not about blaming the US/West for our all problems. Muslims needs to set its own house in order but there is no question that the Heroin in Afghanistan, NWFP and Tribal area were almost nonexistent before CIA operation against Soviet Invasion. Similar terrorism, intolerance, lawlessness in Tribal Area is the direct product of the machinations of the local/international establishment powers that were based in Tribal region even before Afghan-Soviet War in 1970s.
For we Muslims and Pakistani in particular, this is not a time for optimism. It’s better to be cautious now – even paranoid – than sorry later. The events in our society in general and tribal region in particular did not emerge from a void but are a continuation of a dirty game played since colonization and continues unabated, involving critical inside players and their outside allies.

To draw a line in the sand, we should openly declare US/CIA directly responsible for creating/nourishing/sponsoring chaos, terror, lawlessness, drug economy in our regions.

  9. Gohar Ilahi says:

india is an unnatural entity in South Asia. the indian government interferes in the affairs of all its neighboors and has border disputes with all of its neighboors,
india was created by the British to wreak havoc on South Asia. The world community should help all those subjugated in india(Sikhs-khalistan, nagaland, Tamil Nadu, Kashmir, Hyderabad etc,,,) to achieve independence. How can the world community remain silent when all these nations are being suppressed, oppressed and destroyed under the banner of ”india”. india has an aggressive foreign policy antagonizing all of its neighboors, has forcely introduced nuclear weopons in the region and carries out terrorists attacks against neighbooring countries, yet rather than acknowledge it, it rather blames other countries for its own domestic problems. india is turning into a monster, historically it has no basis in South Asia, an anomaly of history created by the British.
The sooner india is dismantled, the better it will be for all those opprosed in South Asia, and true peace may possibly prevail in South Asia and the whole world at large.

  10. shiju says:

Balkanization of india would have been possible in the 1990s. Now it is difficult since the Indian government has expanded its network of roads and rail links throughout the entire country. With the special economic zones, people from different parts mingle with each other more. Kashmir and north-east still remain a problem. But thankfully, the government is working for that as well with a number of infrastructure projects in the northeast and in Kashmir. Wont believe it but center has approved setting up of hydro-electric plants producing 50000 MW in arunachal pradesh alone. A number of dams and power projects in Kashmir as well. Effectively, government will try to make each state economically dependent on each other hence any confrontation between states will be difficult even if any state tries any divisive agenda.
Naxalites, they are like the taliban of India. The government hates them but some of us have sympathies with these guys. There means may be flawed but their struggle is genuine, Actually, we indians believe in the religion of humanity more than we believe in the religion of gods. Thankfully thats one great thing in us indians. Though BJP tries to change that all the time but the recent state elections has showed the BJP has not been much successful in this venture. Finally, the naxalites do not want to break the country apart. They only want to join it with more fundamental values than the economic libralisation and globalization.

India sees itself surrounded by terrorists.

NEW DELHI: Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh asked Pakistan on Saturday to hand over the suspected perpetrators of last month’s terrorist attacks in Mumbai so that they could be tried in India.

Talking to reporters in the northeastern city of Shilong, Singh said his country would root out terrorism using ‘any means’.

“War is no solution to the problems,” the Indian prime minister said. “We sincerely hope that better sense will prevail with Pakistan because this is an area where there is a need for maximum possible cooperation between our two countries.”

Singh said the biggest challenges before India was the “menace of terrorism and Naxalism” and the global economic slowdown.

Bangladesh: Calling Bangladesh another emerging terror front, Singh said Indian militants from the Northeastern states continue to operate out of bases in the neighbouring country.

“The porous border that India shares with Bangladesh is a matter of concern for us as infiltration and cross-border terrorism does take place. We need to accelerate fencing and discuss this issue in next week’s meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security,” the he said.

Asked whether his government was open to talks with banned militant outfits, Singh said, “All insurgent groups must recognise that the only course open to them is to lay down arms.”
