Where’s the beef? Rhetoric but no US arms for Pakistan Corps

The Frontier Corpof Pakistan still uses WW2 vintage rifles. The US aid is just not there. There is a lot of rhetoric to “do more”, but in six years since 9/11 the US has failed to honor the requests of the Pakistanis for arms for the Frontier Corps. Each meeting, the US asks “how can we help you”. Each meeting a list is given to the Americans. Nothing happens. The Pakistani Army and the Generals do not complain

The Pakistan Afghan border mapAs a result of the dearth of arms, the FC has taken heavy casualties.

The USA has yet to build any roads for the FC or provide any all terrain vehicles. The FC runs around in Toyota pickups, if they are lucky. There is no armor protection for them. They have no mine sweepers. The FC has no remote control devices to turn off roadside bombs.

ROZ Pakistani mapThis is hilarious. Mr. Gates the Secretary of Defense said that the US would provide night goggles and part for choppers. Is this anyway to fight in the tribal areas. 50 trainers for the FC will fix everything?

The FC has no bullet proof vests, no kevlar uniforms and almost no armor. They need anti-mine vehicles, anti EID equipment, heavy trucks, drone and field hospital. The US should transfer 100 choppers, and equip the 80,000 strong Frontier corp with the latest M-16 machine guns. Mr. Gates should send about 25 predator drones, and 6 AWAC surveillance planes. Additionally the US should send about 6 Orion class planes to monitor the border. A new satellite should be launched for Pakistan so that she can monitor her borders.
