The PPP has made a few major blunders. Only time will tell if they can recover from them.
1) Ask the UN to intervene in Pakistan. If the Security Council approves the investigation, then the UN will have the right to access any part of Pakistani territory and do surprise inspections just like Iraq. The UN inquiry may also find links to Pakistan’s Nuclear program and then get a team of countries to act. At a very minimum, the UN will send Scotland Yard or the FBI to investigate. In that case, the inquiry will be redundant. The PPP is in power now, it should use all its own resources to conduct an investigation. Asking the UN is giving up part of Pakistani sovereignty
2) Appointment of Husain Haqqani as the Ambassador to the USA. This appointment is a huge mistake, because of Mr. Haqqani’s unsavory connections with the Neocons.
3) Trying to demolish the ISI.
4) Promising Nawaz Sharif that the judges would be restored and then reneging on the promise. The promise should never have been made.
5) Allowing the PPPP hoodlums to disrupt the assemblies.
6) Being too compliant to foreign powers.
