One could envision that human G-nome double helix D.N.A scientists may still be struggling with the mysterious causatum whether megalomania is an inherited gene or not! The speech of Bilawal surely would be one more piece of “forensic” evidence in identifying the ephemeral “ego gene” and it helps the case of those who believe that the genetically transmitted disease could be transferred from the brood to the progeniture!
It is amazing to see how expeditiously the conceited feudal imperious “ego gene” has totally and absolutely overpowered the turgid Bilawal. Historically it takes a few decades for the superciliousness to assert itself in the Bhuttos. After her coronation, we know that the magisterial and despotic Ms. Bhutto ran the party as a personal fiefdom which she bequeathed to her progeny. That is the rationale that Bilawal was selected as the chairman. Mr. Z.A Bhutto’s doppelganger also had a mean dictatorial ego streak in him.
Six hours before she was executed, Mary, Queen of Scots wrote to her brother-in-law, Henry III of France:”…As for my son, I commend him to you in so far as he deserves, for I cannot answer for him.” The year was 1587.
“On Dec. 30, 2007, a conclave of feudal potentates gathered in the home of the slain Benazir Bhutto to hear her last will and testament being read out and its contents subsequently announced to the world media. Where Mary was tentative, her modern-day equivalent left no room for doubt. She could certainly answer for her son. Tariq Ali. The Nation. Pakistan Flightpath
“L’État c’est Moi” the belief of Louis XIV who acted on this principle with tolerable consistency. Louis XIV is known as “Louis le Grand” or “Le Grand Monarque”, “the Great Monarch” (Louis the Great), after the “Parlement de Paris”, decreed that all public inscriptions and statues of the king should carry that epithet.
Louis XIV is also known as The “Le Roi Soleil” (Sun King) because it was thought that, just as the planets revolve around the Sun, so too should France and the Court revolve around him. As a result, he was associated with Apollo Helios, the Greco-Roman god of the Sun. This is also fitting because, as patron of the Arts, Louis was, like Apollo Musagetes, the “leader of the Muses. Bilawal is not living in an empire and is not an emperor. This is not 1638 or 1715. As recent events have shown, Pakistan does not revolve around anyone.
“A Bhutto will emerge from every house in Pakistan!”
If so, would it be the progeny of Bilawal or Fatima? I thought Bilawal’s last name was Zardari!
During the press conference one saw hubris, heard arrogance, felt pomposity, and smeled priggishness, the mega sins and mammoth frailties that lead to a quick downfall of leaders. Zia once commented about Bhutto “The Higher they rise, the greater is the fall“. After hanging Bhutto Zia would be horrified to discover that his own death was a personification of that adage.
This is the second opportunity that Bilawal missed. The first one was when he failed to ask the arsonists to stop burning and looting. The 2nd one was a total implosion.
Bilawal’s portentous asseveration was pretty much “I am the state“. Without me or my party’s election win, there is no state “it will disintegrate”. This is the epitome of arrogance. It was also a “not too veiled” threatening impedance to all Pakistanis. “Elect the PPP or else“. The vain and portent description that “Mr. Bilawal is the symbol of the federal state” is a obtuse mulct to extort votes and a miserable contrivance to define a young man. The carefully crafted cliche is a threat emanating from the Zardaris. As soon as Bilawal muttered “disintegration” that, images of 1971 and the rioting in Sind come to mind. Tha Pakistani diaspora as well as the elites and the masses in general are incensed at Bilawal’s reference to disintegration which was headlined all over the world. It was a disgusting image, and a disappointing vignette which was derogatory to the grandson of a great icon and deprecated the stature of a future leader.
What an abominable way to start a political career.
This is what Shahid of London says:
“and whose words is he espousing now. i am sure he has no clue of what he is talking about. he has been primed by his corrupt father and other vested interests in the PPP to make claims of disintegration etc…..can you stop wasting time speaking to a puppet as you cannot expect any real and original thought”
Bilawal, let us put it in non-Pakistani (though a bit dated) terms for you. We don’t know you for Adam. we wanted to see a “knight in shining armor“, a humbler version of Sir Lancelot. What we saw was “Darth Vader” We did not like what we saw or what we have heard.
This are the comments of Dr. Abdul Jaleel of Darlington England.
“Lack of privacy comes with the territory, sonny boy.
And if you don’t mind the truth, you ,the dynasfied cub politician is the last person to lectue us on democracy ; who elected you to represent million of Pakistanis ?”
Bilawal’s pretentious and stolid performance reminded us of the last speech of Zulifqar Ali Bhutto when he said “I have a lot of power”, if I don’t have a lot of power, this chair has a lot of power“. A few weeks later he was in the Rawalpindi Central jail pleading for his life. Pakistanis always say “Wa izzo min tashao, wa zillo min tashao” (God gives honor and God gives disgrace). Mr. Bilawal, we knew Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was a “Quaid e Awam“, you are no Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto yet! You have a long way to go to prove your credentials. Get good grades first.
We expected Bilawal Bhutto Zardari or whatever his current name is this week, to rise as a national leader during the remonstrance and build a positive image for himself and an affirmative phantasm for his great country. Instead Mr. Zardari junior dived back into the PPP playbook archives about “Pakistan is in danger” “unless you elect my party“. “I am the super patriot and without me the country will disintegrate“. Ughh the “I” word destroys votes.
Is his regent training him as a master blackmailer or what?
It also shows that Mr. Bilawal is internet illiterate. If he had visited this site, a sample speech would have been waiting for him. (attempted humor! ;0). http://tinyurl.com/2bn2l8 (Reproduced at bottom of this article)
Unfortunately many Pakistani run-of-the-mill politicians have the same modus operandi and demeanor. Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan churn out the same crass “elect me or else” excrement.
If we were to judge the organizational and political skills of the young Bhutto-Zardari, they can be encapsulated in a pea pod with lots of room to spare. Mr. Bhutto’s press conference in the plush London hotel smacked of pandemonium, disorganization and chaos. This disarray gene was also inherited from Ms. Benazir Bhutto. Her press conferences were the epitome of confusion.
“The Gore Hotel at Queen’s Gate in London was the setting for a press conference for Benazir Bhutto’s son, the newly-anointed chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party. Half an hour before the scheduled appearance of young Bilawal at 11am on Tuesday, there was not even standing room left in the rather small conference hall. Some of London’s best-known journalists were forced to sit on the floor or stand in corners.” Dawn Jan. 9th 2008
If we compare the aureate locution of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to the effulgent writings of Fatima Bhutto there is a world of difference. The adroit Ms. Fatima Bhutto is prodigious, literate, and passionate and has volunteered for “public good” during the earthquake, in Lebanon and in Palestine. She not only is resplendently fluent in English, but also has a preternatural command over the National Language, Urdu and even writes in polished Urdu. It is great resume building for her. These are the reasons that Fatima Bhutto is our favorite Bhutto.
Bilawal your grew up with the books of Z.A. Bhutto who had one of the finest libraries in the world. If he had cared to pick up some of the books or read the history books he would know that Louis XIV is actually reported to have said on his death bed: “Je m’en vais, mais l’État demeurera toujours.” (“I am going away, but the State will always remain”).

….my dear countrymen…in this hour of grief, I appreciate your sentiments and understand your anger. I am too young to make a difference but I cannot stand by as I see the carnage in the streets. If you loved Benazir Bhutto, if you loved Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, if you love the PPP, if you love Biliwal Bhutto, please go back to your homes and defend the homes and business of our fellow Pakistan. Please be the guards and protect Pakistani, Sindhi, Punjabi, Muhajir, Baluch, Kashmir, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, lives and property. If you are angy, say a “Fateha” for my mother and my grandfather. Let us hold a day of national prayer. Please help me and help us build a better Pakistan!
….My dearest brothers and sisters…I am not speaking to you as a Sindhi, Punjabi, Baluch, Punjabi, Pathan, Muhajir, Kashmiri or Afghan…I am speaking to you as a Pakistani…and yes I am a Sindhi, Punjabi, Baluch, Kashmiri, Afghan…if you love us, let us all gather in your local mosques tonight and let us do a national day of prayer and reconciliation.
As Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto said “let us pick up the pieces…”
…I also use this opportunity to forgive the murderers of my mother. Let us all come together and build a better Pakistan.
Pakistan Zindabad.
Bhutto Zindabad.
