Geert Wilders Europe: Muslim Integration and separatism. Lessons learned from the British Raj

A Britisher asked a Muslim student in Londoner. “You are a third generation Britisher, Why don’t you integrate?” The British-Muslim Londoner in perfect cockney accept reponded, “When was the last time you or your family invited a Muslim to dinner?“.

He then went on to say, “as far as assimilation is concerned, I speak the English language, wear English fashions, eat English food, and study in an English University, and can quote Shakespeare and enjoy the Beatles, as much as the next bloke.”…”My fathers generation fuled the Industrial might ot Britian in Bradford and Manchester……however I am not invited into British society,  have a tough time finding  jobs, and face daily insults on the street by those who think that I look different.

In short this is a British problem. In France, the divide is between White French and black African Muslims. In the smaller countries of Europe Muslims were brought in during good times. Most Muslims who migrated to Europe are were poor and came from the lowest rung of their societies.

Squalid conditions in Europe gave the world the black plague and spread diseases that wiped out entire population in Latin America, Asia and Africa. Europe also gave the world, the Crusades.  The Inquisition murdered millions of Muslims and Jews. Europeans made slavery into an industry. Europe also gave the world Colonialism and used free resources from the planet to build its cities and countries. European greed gave the world the death of 15 million poeple in WW1, the massacre of 50 million people in WW2. Europeans took Anti-Semitism to horrific lows resulting in the tragic Holocaust the death of millions of Jews and the continuing wars in the Middle East. On the eve of the death of colonialism, Europe in Yalta plunged the nascent countries of the world into a cold war.

Today Europe is taking Islamphobia to new lows again. This is a European problem and needs to be resolved in Europe and by Europeans. The Dutch parliament needs to control its members like Geert Wilders and Hilbrand Nawijn.

Muslim Integration and separatism.

The dilemma of Muslim integration and separatism is a hot one in Europe.

We have to look into the seeds or time to see what history teaches us. In The South Asian Subcontinent Moti Lal Nehru was the head of the Indian national Congress Party (NC). Mr. Mohandas Gandhi was imported to Delhi and Mr. Gandhi introduced religious symbols to the body politic of the Independence movement. secular leaders like Jinnah and others failed to convince Gandhi to stay away from using religious artifacts and Hindu lexicon to lead his people. At the same time the RSS, Jang Sangh and others began calling for the expulsion of all Muslims and the “reconversion” of Muslims back to India. Examples of Spain were given to the people.

In reaction, The Muslims of the Subcontinent formed their own political party called the All India Muslim League. They first won the right to a separate electorate, and then won the nationwide elections of the Muslim vote. In representing all the Muslims of the Subcontinent they dealt with the INC on the basis of equality. After failing to accept the Cabinet Mission Plan which asked for adequate safeguards against majoritarianism, the INC and the Muslim League was on a collision course. This ultimately led to the formation of Pakistan.

Today European Muslims are caught in a similar dilemma. Other Dutch parties failed to represent the rights of the Muslims.According to news reports they have formed their own political parties.

The establishment of a political party to represent Muslims in the Netherlands is as welcome as it is overdue. But it also entails very real risks.

The announcement by columnist Mohammed Jabri that moves are afoot to launch a political party for Dutch Muslims by the beginning of summer should come as no surprise to anyone who has followed events in the Netherlands in recent years.

The Muslim Democratic Party (MDP) could be a real force for good if it plays a positive role. It should forthrightly defend aspects of Muslim life that are worth defending; help spread understanding and acceptance of Muslims among the native Dutch and vice versa; and perhaps most importantly, expose as a lie the convenient myth that Muslims are the root of all that is wrong or bad in the Netherlands today.http://www.euro-islam.info/spip/article.php3?id_article=981

But giving Muslims a real voice on the political stage - and who knows, perhaps a seat at the Cabinet table - would go a long way to helping Muslims to look on Dutch society as their society also.

A Muslim party would have real potential: there are an estimated one million Muslims in the Netherlands and the number is growing.

Al-Jabri considers Averroismto be the way for the survival of the Arabo-Islamic tradition. Initially Averroism had broken with the thoughts of Avicenna and Sunni-sufi Eastern Arab philosophy. Later, Averroes also broke the way between the theoretical thought and philosophical one. Before, science and the philosophy existed to explain conception of religion. Averroes finishes with separating religion from science and philosophy. Averroes thought that the understanding of the philosophy must have exclusively the same principles of philosophy as bases, and it should not be based on others fields like religion.  Sukarno quoting Toyanbee: “A great civilization never goes down unless it destroys itself from within.”

Tulips to do not bloom in a desert. They need water, nourishment, and the right soil to grow in . Cacti die if given too much water. Islamphobic Bigots need support, finances and a blow-horn which is available to Geert Wilders and the SOIE in Amsterdam. His party represents a significant voting block in parliament. So he does have grass root support of a percentage of the population.

Holland used to be known for her Tulips and her Windmills. We used to think of Amsterdam as city of Hashish and Opium and freee drugs. Nothing further could be from the truth. There is deep rooted bigotry in the Dutch people and Mr. Geert Wilders is but a manifestation of that Islamphobic bigotry.

Islam’s chief Dutch critics in Parliament, Geert Wilders and Hilbrand Nawijn, are vying with each other for the title of “Champion of Liberal Democracy” who will lead a modern day reconquista to compel Muslims here to become Dutch or get out“. Euru-Islam

Geert WIlders could never grow in America. He would not find the nourishment or the soil.

The Geert Wilder phenomenon cannot be considered in a vacuum. There are many Geert Wilders. The puppet strings may be elsewhere. The creation of the “Stop Islamaization of Europe”(SIOE) is not an accident, it is part of a strategy.

1) Target authors and “hire” them to the plan to demonize Muslims and Islam

2) Provoke Muslims with comments, cartoons, books or movies

3) Hire mercenaries to start violence

4) Imbed miscreants in peaceful Muslim demonstrations

5) use embedded miscreants to do violence acts

6) Blame all violence on all Muslims around the world

7) Condemn violence. Re-enforce image of “Muslims are violent people”.

8) Repeat cycle periodically

The last time someone called fro the wholesale expulsion of Muslims from Europe was the head of the Church, Grand Inquisitor, Torquemada., a representative of the Catholic Church in Spain in 1492 time frame. Millions of Muslims were given the choice of conversion, expulsion or death. The converts called the “Moriscos” were persecuted for centuries. The Muslim call for prayer, mosques and praying even in private was banned. On Fridays everyone was asked to keep their windows open so that no prayers were being held. Bathing in general and specifically on Friday was banned. All books were burned. Cervantis centuries later wrote a book Don Quixote who was still chasing the ephemeral “Turkish Armies” in Spain after the Muslims had been expelled for centuries.

DUTCH-MUSLIM RELATIONS -19th century to present:

Our erstwhile champions of liberal freedoms didn’t seem to think there was anything wrong with Nawijn’s assertion that the Constitutional guarantee of freedom of religion should only apply to Christian and Jewish schools - because Dutch society, he said, was a Judeo-Christian one. Euro Islam

He forgot to mention that until Indonesia got its independence from the Netherlands in the 1940s, Islam was the biggest religious group in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

One of the reasons for Colonialism was to civilize the Christianize the “native” populations. Holland actually took this to heart and conducted a very brutal repression of Muslims in Indonesia.

Sukarno: “Other countries in Africa and Asia considered us a beacon of the New Emerging Forces,” he remarked at Bogor last week. “But Subandrio has told me that our beacon has been fading recently-the beacon that earlier gave light to the world

“Britannia rules the waves, but Indonesia waives the rules.”

“No exploitation de l’homme par l’homme”. Achmed Sukarno

“Equality of satisfaction” Achmed Sukarno

Geert Wilders grew up on the free wheeling, free drug culture of the 60s. his reaction to Liberal thoughts and ideas made him who he is. He is now being supported by many outside The Netherlands. The Geert WIlder phenomenon has to be seen in the background of massive Islamic influences on the Netherlands. “Tulipomania” was caused in Amsterdam during the import to “Topi Lale” from the Ottomans. One tulip would cost more than a 100,000 Dollars. Windmills another Muslim import remind every Dutchman everday of Muslim influences in the Netherlands.

Geert Wilders, is one of the nine members of the extremist VVD (Peoples Party for Freedom and Democracy) of the 150-seat Dutch lower house. It will, he claims, reveal the Koran as ’source of inspiration for intolerance, murder and terror’.

Mr. Wilders support free speech, but wants the Quran to be banned. He wants to eliminate dual nationality, but his wife may have a Hungarian passport.

“D66 leader Alexander Pechtold certainly seems to have aroused a cross-section of parliamentary hackles for daring to ask if Geert Wilder’s wife still has Hungarian nationality. Wilders and his anti-immigration cohorts in the PVV want to bring an end to dual nationality because, they say, it gives you divided loyalties. ” http://www.dutchnews.nl/columns/2007/03/answer.php

And Nawijn also went so far as to say integration was a waste of time, Muslims had to be made to assimilate. Again his colleagues in parliament didn’t bat an eye lid.

He simply ignored the rights and views of the Muslims living here now. Instead, Nawijn - who is trying to ensure a political life for himself after the inevitable demise of the LPF - is flirting with the Vlaams Belang, the successor to the Flemish party that was banned in Belgium for being racist.

The SIOE and Mr. Geert Wilders have his Neocon supports and Ms. Ayaan Hisri who now works for the Republican conservative American Enterprise Institute (AEI) which propagates the Plan for a new American Century (PNAC).

Geert Wilders needed to get away, and he finally did — though he regrets he didn’t get to do any sightseeing. The controversial 41-year-old member of the Dutch Parliament spent two weeks in January 2005 touring Israel and the United States in search of international support for his fledgling but increasingly popular political movement back home. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/front/map/wilders.html

The Dutch newspaper Telegraaf reported in May 2007 that Geert Wilders had been shadowed by the Dutch General Intelligence and Security Service for years, when he was foreign affairs spokesman for the VVD. During that time, Wilders regularly visited with the Israeli embassy in The Hague. LESSOnS LEARNED: THE MUSLIMS REPONSE NOW

Hadi Yahmid, IOL Correspondent

“Islamophobia is hitting all time high but Muslims have been using recently sharp weapons against it,” said Geisser

PARIS - European Muslim leaders are growing astute in handling rising Islamophobia across the continent by learning how to take offensive anti-Islam campaigns into their strides, Muslim leaders and Islamic affairs experts say.
“EU Muslims are now mature enough when it comes to Islamophobia,” Hasan Farsado, leader of the Union of Muslim Association in the Seine-Saint-Denis district in France, told IslamOnline.net Friday, January 18.

Living in democracies, EU Muslims can “resort to law to maintain their rights and defend themselves against assaults on their religious identity,” he added.

Following the Danish cartoons crisis in 2005 and the ensuing protests and internationalization of the issue, European Muslim leaders became aware of right-wing and Islamophobic campaigns that instigated public opinion against them and doubted their loyalty to their countries.

Other similar sacrilegious attempts that lampooned Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and insulted Islam and its holy book failed to unnerve Muslims in some European countries.

Muslims there resorted to peaceful protests and direct talks with officials and even Islamophobes to demonstrate that what they believe was untrue.

Just this week, Austrian Muslim leaders refused to be provoked by offensive anti-Islam remarks made by a member of a right-wing party, saying such “third-class” politicians do not deserve even their jeers.

In the Netherlands, Muslim leaders have talked to the owner of an exhibition and convinced him to stop showcasing paintings insulting the Prophet.

And in France, Muslim leaders led a peaceful mass rally in Paris, raising placards denouncing Islamophobia and blasphemy.

Shortly afterwards, President Nicolas Sarkozy said both Islamophobia and anti-Semitism are unacceptable in France and some lawmakers proposed to draft a bill criminalizing Islamophobia.

Last week, more than 400 Muslim groups across Europe signed Thursday, January 10, at the European parliament the first charter on relations between Muslims in Europe and their societies.

More Harm

Farsado said EU Muslims have realized that violent protests and demonstrations will get them nowhere.

“Such (violent) reaction to anti-Islam campaign will create more harm than good as it further tarnishes the image of Islam and Muslims in the West,” Farsado noted.

The astute Muslim response nowadays comes in sharp contrast to the killing of Dutch filmmaker Theo Van Gogh by a Dutch-Moroccan, who was provoked by the director’s anti-Islam documentary “Submission

“Such violent responses won’t deter Islamophobes,” said Farsado.

Vincent Geisser, a researcher and expert at Islamic affairs in the West, echoed a similar view.

“EU Muslims have adopted new tactics (to fight Islamophobia) based on the judiciary and state institutions,” he said.

“Islamophobia is hitting all time high but Muslims have been using recently sharp weapons against it.”

The first UN Alliance of Civilizations Forum, which wrapped up Wednesday in the Spanish capital Madrid, saw the launch of a Hollywood-backed fund to produce and distribute films that stereotypes about Islam and Arabs, and promote cross-cultural understanding.

A recent British study accused the media and film industry of perpetuating Islamophobia and prejudice by demonizing Muslims and Arabs as violent, dangerous and threatening people.

But some Muslim leaders believe that there is a lot to be done by Muslims in Europe to reach “Islamophobia maturity.”

“I fear that by paying no heed to anti-Islam campaigns Muslims will get used to such offenses as a fait accompli,” warned Mohamed Al-Mesteri, director of the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT).

“Muslims in Europe should translate their peaceful protests into strong media campaigns against offenders and close coordination among Muslim umbrella groups and we unfortunately lack both weapons,” added Al-Mesteri.
